The removal of the headstones will take place from first light on Wednesday, the undertaker confirmed. Sir Jimmy had a long association with the town and was buried there after his death, aged 84, in October 2011. Statue removed The operation to remove the granite and steel headstones would be carried out "methodically and professionally", the undertaker said. Earlier on Tuesday, the Metropolitan Police said they were pursuing 120 separate lines of inquiry after recording eight allegations against the Leeds-born entertainer, including two rapes. The investigation follows claims made about the BBC broadcaster in an ITV documentary last week. The removal of the headstones comes days after a footpath sign in Scarborough commemorating Sir Jimmy was taken down by the borough council. A plaque outside his flat in Scarborough was also taken down last week after the words "rapist" and "paedophile" were written on it Leeds City Council has removed his name from an inscription on a wall commemorating high profile citizens at the city's Civic Hall. And a wooden statue of Sir Jimmy which stood outside Scotstoun Leisure Centre in Glasgow was also removed from public display after the allegations were broadcast last week.
He swore an oath of fealty to the Queen, not to the young girls virginity.
I think it's a bit unjustified to disturb his grave when the investigation in to the allegations has yet to be completed.
I think it's a bit unjustified to disturb his grave when the investigation in to the allegations has yet to be completed.
I think its to prevent it from being defaced, I doubt they'd remove it purely out of disrespect.

You know I completely forgot he was dead.
Well, at least my town is in the news. I haven't been up there myself, but a lot of people have been making a huge fuss over it. I really need to go check it out.
I don't think Jim will be able to fix this
good, pedophiles are worse than murderers as far as im concerned
I think it's a bit coincidental that people only started coming out when he died, y'know, when he can't defend himself.
I think it's a bit coincidental that people only started coming out when he died, y'know, when he can't defend himself.
Can we not victim blame and just stay impartial until the trial was over?
good, pedophiles are worse than murderers as far as im concerned
How does that work?
How does that work?
Well if you kill somebody, they're dead but their family will still have emotional scarring. But if you rape somebody, they're not dead and so along with their family, they'll have emotional scarring.
Well if you kill somebody, they're dead but their family will still have emotional scarring. But if you rape somebody, they're not dead and so along with their family, they'll have emotional scarring.
I'd rather be "emotionally scarred" than dead.
good, pedophiles are worse than murderers as far as im concerned
people who boost gold membership are even worse
people who boost gold membership are even worse
It's pretty obvious it's a bad alt of some old account which has been banned.
good, pedophiles are worse than murderers as far as im concerned
pedophiles=/=child molesters
I think it's a bit coincidental that people only started coming out when he died, y'know, when he can't defend himself.
I'm from the US so I don't know much about this guy or this case, but the bit I've read seems to indicate this is more about uncovering the people who might have helped him hide this activity more than it is about Savile himself. It's like the Jerry Sandusky case here in the US, it led to the firing of multiple people because of their involvement in covering up crimes. edit: In other words, assuming there were crimes, even if you can't punish the dead guy you can still go after those still alive who helped him.
"It was good while it lasted," probably wouldn't be the phrase I'd want people to associate me with if I were being investigated for the sexual assault of minors.
I think it's a bit coincidental that people only started coming out when he died, y'know, when he can't defend himself.
I wish I'd been a kid during the Michael Jackson craze. I'm very talented at making up elaborate tales of deeply offensive sexual acts. It was my misfortune not to realize that talent until it was too late. At my age, there just isn't much of a market for it.
people who boost gold membership are even worse
Isn't the only way to get gold is to buy it now?
I'd rather be "emotionally scarred" than dead.
I'd like to bet that a lot of rape victims would rather be dead than emotionally scarred. I mean, you're still alive but would you be able to actually enjoy life after an ordeal like that?
I think it's a bit coincidental that people only started coming out when he died, y'know, when he can't defend himself.
There's a lot of evidence against him though. Even if somebody who's met him came forward and falsely claimed to be a victim, they'd have to be a good liar for police investigators. Since tens of these women are coming forward now, along with other evidence in their favour, it looks like he was a sexual predator for decades.
I think it's a bit coincidental that people only started coming out when he died, y'know, when he can't defend himself.
It's been said by many people now that his actions were an "open secret" at the BBC, but he was too powerful to bring down. I've also heard it said that when people threatened to out him ,he said that in doing so they would be stopping a lot of money going into the charities he supported. Apparently he was going to be exposed by a newspaper but when he found out he gave an exclusive interview to another paper about all his charity work so the other newspaper would have looked like twats if they said anything.
good, pedophiles are worse than murderers as far as im concerned
So uh about that whole innocent till proven guilty thing?
I'd like to bet that a lot of rape victims would rather be dead than emotionally scarred. I mean, you're still alive but would you be able to actually enjoy life after an ordeal like that?
Yes. You get usually over psychological issues eventually (At least to the point of being able to enjoy life. They're probably scarred, but at least they're not dead.)
