http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-2358383/Would-really-want-wash-hands-URINAL-Controversial-designer-tries-built-tap-boost-male-hygiene.html
Men have long been maligned for their lack of hygiene but now they have no excuse for not washing their hands after a visit to the bathroom. A Latvian designer has come up with a novel toilet design to improve men's hand washing habits by by including a built-in tap. Kaspars Jursons' design is called STAND and was created to encourage men to wash their hands after using the facilities. Experts say it takes 15 to 20 seconds of vigorous hand washing with soap and water to effectively kill the germs which cause infections. Yet the study found that people washed their hands for, on average, only about six seconds. A third of people do not use soap when washing their hands and 10 per cent do not wash their hands at all
Add lotion dispensers. So do you wash after you shake or while you piss?
Dual purpose now
I wonder how long before they're all over Riga, probably quite quickly.
So its just a sink integrated with a urinal? I'm still washing for 6 seconds regardless.
Uhh, soap doesn't kill germs... You need anti-bacterial soap to do that
Dickheads will piss in the sink or all over the tap instead of the urinal part
Dickheads will piss in the sink or all over the tap instead of the urinal part
They do that already anyway
reminds me of how disgusting my uni is. Almost every time I go to the toilets there and someone else has just done a piss they do not even wash their hands. Hell, one time I walked in and this little kid (probably 8, dunno why a kid was at the uni) and a fully grown adult were there taking a piss and guess which one just walked away and which one washed his hands after he was done. I probably shouldn't think so much about other people in the toilets but it just amazes me sometimes. [editline]9th July 2013[/editline] They say our uni is in the top 3% of the world but the people who study at it certainly don't act like it.
Im sorry but my grandparents in Japan have had toilets that have sinks built into the top as long as I can remember. So to me this is taking an old concept and applying it to something less-new.
Uhh, soap doesn't kill germs... You need anti-bacterial soap to do that
And even then I avoid it because there's not really any germs dangerous enough in day to day life to really warrant overusing anti-bacterial agents considering we're slowly exhausting the current supply that we have. I do the whole couple of seconds of water wash of my hands after taking a piss and that's it. Hell, with the amount of time I spend cleaning my damn dick when I'm in the shower it should be bloody spotless anyway (I like it being that way and so do women I imagine). I'm also not lacking in coordination to the point that I piss all over my hands either, so come to think about it washing my hands after taking a piss is more just out of expected social etiquette than anything else. After taking a shit though I definitely wash with soap and water for a fair while though. Just in case.
considering i already piss on my hands to wash them i find this very redundant
I probably shouldn't think so much about other people in the toilets but it just amazes me sometimes.
I always notice it too and its pretty disgusting. My office isn't so bad for it, in 3 weeks I have only seen one person not wash their hands after using the toilets. If it sickens you then you definitely don't want to see iSeries (UKs biggest lanparty, 3 times a year), I think I'm actually going to print signs off and stick them up all over the toilets because like 50% of people I see in the toilets leave without washing their hands, and there is a big exhibition area with lots of things you pick up, touch, try out etc. I don't fancy the idea of the mouse I'm trying out having the genital sweat/germs of 10 sweaty neckbeards that havent showered in 4 days.
because they are really going to care about some dumb sign
People are more likely to do it if its pointed out, because it makes them realize people will notice.
Wash your hands with your own piss.

But in my uni, my best friend used to be really OCD about germs (He still is, but he controls it better) such that if he was taking a piss and someone left the bathrooms (Be that Pub or Uni) without washing their hands, he had to call me to bail him out of the bathroom because he could not physically bring himself to touch the door

I think we come in at #17 for the best private colleges and universities in the Southern US.
this is related. remember guys, only touch your penis No homo

Reading this at first I thought it was going to make use of hand washing runoff for the flushing mechanism as to lower water use, fight odor, and help keep urinals clean. Instead he just moved the tap closer to piss. As for motion activated/hands free sinks, soap dispensers, and hand driers; they have been common where I live for years.
