So, for those of you who live in the U.S., you might have seen this on public broadcasting at some point.

Animusic is a project by musician Wayne Lytle and artist Dave Crognale to create an animation system that responded to MIDI instrumentation. The result was two sets of cool animated "music videos" of fantastical devices playing Lytle's music. There's no story or plot to their videos, just some interesting visuals with a lot of charm and heart. It's kind of like watching a live performance by the side shows at Disney World, only, you know, living basses instead of people.

Their material is really entertaining for any animation or music fan. Despite the fact that it's all done with MIDI instruments, the songwriting is strong and complex enough to be impressive.

People have been waiting years for the third installment, but unfortunately they sank all their resources into coding a new animation engine and are now, quite frankly, flat broke. They have, however, started a [url=http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2040578790/animusic-3-dvd]kickstarter to save Animusic 3.[/url] They've only got two weeks left and are just past halfway.
Anyone else on FP fans of these guys?
