Now I don't condone complaining too much, but I do know what hype means. Some believe, then are delivered with absolute dryness.
I haven't really "looked" forward to as many albums this year, but rather discovered newcomers and things.
I can only think of this:

It's enjoyable, well performed and in ways inspired. But I'm a fan of their early work and it seems as though this "delve" into a new style hasn't quite paid off too well as compared to some bands who try new things.
I won't say Radiohead because although it's not a great album, I like it.

Post your own.
Jakszyk, Fripp, And Collins - A Scarcity of Miracles (totally my fault for getting hyped here)
dredg - Chuckles and Mr. Squeezy (no seriously what the fuck.)
Incubus - If Not Now, When? (don't even go this way you were doing fine even considering how light grenades left off)
Radiohead - King of Limbs (cool, but once again, same as Scarcity)
That King Crimson album recieved next to no hype at all. Not a great album, some may like it's soothing, non-explosive feel (i do). But I can't say it's too addictive.
you guys didn't have your minds blown with king of limbs?? that's weak
People aren't really excited with Mastodon's or Bjork's albums this year.
Are they that bad?
what are you smoking /mu/ freaked the fuck out over biophilia for a period of time. they liked it p. well too iirc
i liked it
no clue about the hunter
For metal, Opeth - Heritage and Dream Theater - A Dramatic Turn of Events were disappointing but I think Mastodon - The Hunter was the most.
It just feels so off. It's as if there's not as much thought put into it as the previous albums. It's their first record with the pop / hip-hop producer Mike Elizondo. I wonder if that could have something to do with it. Really though, I thought Blood Mountain and Crack the Skye were genius, but I think The Hunter doesn't touch them at all.
Honestly I remember a time when everyone was raving for Crack the Skye, me included.
I think it's the most easily listenable metal album I've heard.
The Strokes - Angles:

What the fuck. The Hunter is a great album.

Not everybody is a super-hipster.
I didn't like the new Bon Iver. Sounds bland as hell.

I liked Forever Ago. But I hear the new one is abnormal compared to it.

I liked it at first, but then I went back to For Emma and it just doesn't shine. It's not boring. It's just lacking a little bit

The new Opeth album wasn't really bad, it was just pretty bland and uninteresting. I can't remember one track off it.

There are a few really good songs but most of them just sound really...dumb
Like as if someone was trying to mimic Das Racist and didn't get why they're good

This is definitely the most polarizing album for me. It has some of his best songs and some of his worst. Overall I liked it about as much as Bastard though, although neither of them really struck me as anything special when observed as complete works. Excited as hell for Wolf though, I think he can really pull it off with that one.

and now I understand why I wasn't sure if I liked these guys when I tried them
I'll see if I can find another album to try out.

Needledrop used that word, specifically for Death Grips. So not for Tyler.
I did enjoy it but I think a relisten for me would ruin it.

Listen to their mixtapes. I prefer Sit Down, Man but they're both fantastic

Oh its enjoyable thats for sure, thats why I find it hard to not like it.

i really liked it personally. The new Kaiser Cheifs album was dissapointing, so dissapointing that I barely made it through the album and can't remember it's name.
How were Arctic Monkeys and Coldplay this year?
Artic Monkeys were decent, though they'll probably never be as good as their first album
maybe its just me but I felt that this:

was just...lacking. It really feels that they've changed their style a lot, I really like their older stuff but I felt that Brothers and El Camino have them going in a different direction that I just can't get in to. That's not to say that all songs on Brothers/Camino are bad, but I just felt kinda...let down.
I kind of fear they did play the easy path now that they're popular. Too bad.
The King Of Limbs
That's all.
Not everybody is a super-hipster.
pitchfork demolished king of limbs so hipsters wouldn't like it anyway
