Chuck Norris is one of the true legends in martial arts. He was world champion in karate from 1968 until he gave himself as an active - and undefeated - in 1974. But far more is known, he as an actor, both in numerous films, and perhaps most of all as the leading role in the TV series "Walker Texas Ranger.
For Kenneth Fjeldstad from Krokstadelva is Chuck Norris so much more.
- He is my mentor and life mentor, "he says to VG Nett.
New challenge
It was Byavisa Drammen who first described it mildly, sensational story in its latest issue. In 2005, Fjeld felt himself ready for new challenges after several years as a performer as a hobby.
- I got in touch with his organization, The United Fighting Arts Federation, and asked if it was possible for me to work out the nature of his style - Chun Kuk Do. Then I was contacted by a few American guys who would train with me in Norway.
- That I did not know was that this was the family friends of Norris, who lived in Norway and wanted to check out if I was the right caliber. There I was, apparently, for a short time later I received an invitation to come to the U.S. by Chuck Norris himself. It was of course fun!
1200 hours per year
After two weeks of training with the legend himself Fjeld was told he could represent the style of the species in Norway and Europe in general, since there was not anyone else here who was with Chun Kuk Do.
- The requirement was that I graduated to my black belt in the style of the species. I had to train 1,200 hours a year, to report weekly and send video reports about my progress. Besides, I had to travel to the United States four times a year to train.
Chuck Norris is not, however, with all the collections.
- I trained with him the first week and then I meet him at the annual seminar of his in Las Vegas, "says Fjeld, and makes it clear that there is no party trips in question.
- I have been there for five seminars and two times the gradient, and have hardly seen anything of the city. The second time I was there I was so tired after training that I fell asleep with his head in dinner plates, chuckles Fjeld.
Provides livsråd
He tells a good, but professional relationship with the 69 year old superstar.
- Although we are not close friends, we have a close relationship martial arts. When I started training with him, I was in a difficult time, including illness in the family. I had to take a choice of routes, and he helped me. I see him as a life mentor, "says Fjeld.
- Moreover, he has a clear vision of how to live, and this is stuff that I follow.
- As a person he is very down to earth and popular. In the U.S., he has a special status, and can not go far outside the house without being surrounded. But he is not high on the bulb. He is a warm person.
Kenneth Fjeldstad is also a big fan of Norris' film career.
- It is not easy to pick out some favorites, but of the first films of his I saw was "The Octagon", which is a pretty old film (1980). One of my absolute favorites are Sidekicks (1992), which is no longer obtain ii Norway.

Back in the early 90's I met him at the Vietnam Memorial and he was traveling with two bodyguards.
My buddy asked one of them why he was traveling with them if he was a black-belt.
The bodyguard said he wasn't there to protect him from us, he there to protect us from him.
So yeah, I'd say he knows a trick or two.

I trained with the whole family until I had to leave to start filming Lone Wolf McQuade. Mr. Gracie asked me to stay and train with the family and said he would make me an incredible jiu jitsu practitioner. I was tempted to stay, but I was just starting to get my movie career going, so I had to decline. However, I did continue training in Los Angeles with the Machado brothers, who are cousins of the Gracies. Helio Gracie recently passed away at the age of ninety-five. The world has lost the best of the best
