Hi Facepunch, this thread's a very humble "this is my band, we're pretty new, how do you think we sound?" kind of thread. We played our first "gig" the other day (it was a charity event in my old school in which we raised over £8000 for Comic Relief), and the general reception has been pretty positive. We're aiming for a blend between Rock'n'Roll, Rockabilly and Blues, just music that people could enjoy dancing to at a gig. Some of our influences include The Stray Cats, Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and Paolo Nutini. We're hopefully going to start recording in the next few weeks, and I'll probably post the songs on my soundcloud for people to hear if they wish. So without further ado, The Preventers! (Only a Facebook link, sorry, we've not uploaded to youtube yet). For comic relief?
Yeah it's a charity in the UK... How do you think we sound?
I've put some videos of us practising up on youtube, hope Facepunch enjoys :) Mustang Sally Stray Cat Strut Loving You Thanks.

We were in the news. Aww yeah. http://local.stv.tv/cumbernauld/news/24973-cumbernauld-band-wants-to-bring-back-rock-n-roll-glamour/
Not my favorite type of music, but you are very technically talented. And who ever is the lead singer has a rather nice voice.
Cheers mate, appreciate it
For anyone in the Glasgow area, we're playing the ABC 2 this coming friday (7th October). Doors are at 7, tickets are a meagre six quid, we'd love for everyone to come along!
You're great, very talented, and the music sounds great. Sounds just like the music from the 60s. Which may be your biggest downfall. We've already heard this type of music. It's great and all, but we've been through the 60s already. It was great while it lasted but you guys need a newer sound. Otherwise nothing is wrong. Love it. Your vocalist is very nice too.
Yeah I know we've been through it, but no one seems to do it any more, and it's great music so why not keep on playing it! That's just our thoughts anyway. Our first gig was a complete success, we were the second last band on, and sold 105 tickets, and around 50 odd CDs. Here's a couple of pictures I took before we started

I get a big Paulo Nutini vibe off this
Cheers man. Aye our singer's a massive fan of Paolo. He's Italian as well, so you're probably related.
Find your own sound, maybe you should try mixing modern rock and rock from those times. But, you still sound really great as a band. You just need to find your unique sound. And I really love it anyways.

I really like it! It 's also my favorite type of music!
