some crappy pics of stuff i welded this week made mainly out of boredom. considering selling them to dumb hipsters on etsy. all of these together cost a whopping $12 (the junkyard has very competitive prices). Fellow welder reporting in. I think you should try to weld a chair next. It's pretty easy and could get useful in the workshop if you don't already have one. It'll never break in a rough environment too.
Considering selling them to dumb hipsters on etsy.
You want to arm the hipsters? Are you fucking insane?
But hurting people is too mainstream though!
You want to arm the hipsters? Are you fucking insane?
Arm them with 6000 pound staffs made of solid steel rebar. Yeah they're so dangerous now. Fuck your avatar too, holy fuck that artist creeps the fuck out of me.
Fellow welder reporting in. I think you should try to weld a chair next. I need a nice bedside table.
That's actually pretty cool. The sword type things look pretty kickass.
Can I ask how you found yours? When I google junk yards in my area I just end up with a list of scrap car buyers.
Can I ask how you found yours? When I google junk yards in my area I just end up with a list of scrap car buyers.
just google "scrap for sale", or look around railroads for spikes and ties. that's where i get a lot of my shit. do you weld?
Getting into it along with blacksmithing.
Sweet, I did the same thing. Get some car springs for the blade and make a nice bowie, that's what I did.

Tons of torches(plasma, arc, etc) as well.
These pieces are really cool, except some of your welds are kind of weak and don't look good. If you want a strong weld between two pieces you should run the torch across the joint slowly zigzaging across so you get a nice fat bubble over it. The messier they are the more organic they look, which is what I was going for. I made sure to make them strong though, every piece has vigorous torture tests to go through before I consider them finished.
A female welder? That's so cool.

I am loving that incredibly tetanus inducing dagger on the left

It takes a lot of time to find good scrap and when I find it it's in small amounts, so each piece is unique. The price would vary however. Like that white/green sword to the right of the rusty one would be like 30-40 because the hilt was a rare find, that and the blade is actually heat-treated 5160 that can probably withstand being hit by a tank. The larger pieces I'd price by the pound/complexity, since the shipping alone would cost a shitload (that hammer and the staff both weigh 50 and 65 pounds, respectively). I could make some simple stuff and sell them for like 10 bucks each, though. A simple machete like pic related can be whipped up in twenty minutes with easy-to-find parts. However that tetanus one with the finger guard would be like 40 due to the man-hours put in, the parts used, and the weight. Now that I think about it, you can just draw a rough outline of what you'd like to see and I can replicate it as close as I can. I'll then price it on the parts/time and shit.
Only thing i had running in my mind was, Shit that must be heavy.
Only thing i had running in my mind was, Shit that must be heavy.
i had to carry both the staff and the hammer down several flights of stairs when i was done with them fuck that shit, it killed my ankles [editline]27th September 2012[/editline]
around how much would something akin to this cost obviously more simplified, but the same GENERAL shape I plan on this Halloween being very fun.
about twenty bucks, depending on the price of a good sawblade it might go up to thirty or forty max. The axehead bit will be sheet metal like the machete and the sword and I'm not sure if I can make the saw spin, but I'll try. The hilt/handle bit will be either rebar, a railroad spike, or a mix of the two. Of course, you only have to buy it if you like it. Won't take it personally.

Also, (from personal experience) unless you somehow find a device that spins and is magically durable and find able I wouldn't worry about it spinning at all.

And trust me, it'll look good. It'll be something that I'll have trouble parting with.

These look fancy. What kind of facilities do you use? Got a workshop set up or something? I'm more of a carpenter myself but interested in learning welding at some point, dont have any proper place to practice, too much wood around 'ere.
my blood hurts just by looking at these in a good way, junkyard weapons rule
