But here are the two arts I have created so far... Before you cry "2 second shit", know that even though these aren't fantastic, they took me a while. C&C always welcome.

yes, yes it is.
Wow... it took me about 30 seconds to realize what you were saying yes to. Sometimes I am not as smart as sometimes.
Things I recommend:
Practice on paper first, begin to understand shading, lighting, form, shape, colour, etc.
then look up some tutorials on corel painter because I'm not really familiar with that program. lol. happy art-ing.

He's right. I find it easier to learn art with non-digital materials first.
For some reason I found that 'Sea Cliff' drawing really cool, just because of the choice of colors and the simplicity
but something also disturbs me, it looks kind of rushed, almost as if you were trying to make a speedpainting or something =/

Eh, that would just be my general sucky-ness.
On the sea cliff I love how the water is, if you did the cliff in that style, and made the white stuff look nicer It'd be professional. I'd fucking hang that thing on my wall.
You will get used to it in two days.
A wise man at the top of Fuji once taught me: Put your hand against the screen and draw the contours of your hands over and over and over again to learn the ways of the pad.
I think I have a new favorite member. ^
