• [CONTROVERSY] Why do you listen to things like dubstep/techno-remixes/unf-unf-unf musics?

I know this is a --controversial-- subject; But, I do not see how one can listen to things like Techno (not electronica or techno with substance) Dubstep or anything like that all fucking day. I get that it may be catchy and easy to listen to, but there's plenty of easy and catchy things that are also much more than the same 40 second bit looped with an occasional wrench thrown in. Is it that you're not really a fan of music and just like the noise in the background? Is it that you just don't give a fuck? Is it that you know nothing else? I cannot figure this out. This is what is making me think of this, two of my friends love this, but I'm just baffled... I know there is good electronica/techno. I have plenty that I enjoy and I also find it especially great when my favorite bands that haven't touched any of that genre try it out, it's always fun and I always enjoy it. But it seems more like an element that people tried and failed to implement but thought it could stand on it's own anyway. I don't see the appeal. Also, I know that people have differing tastes. I'm not saying you can't. I'd just like to see what people see in that kind of stuff.
i dunno it has it's great stuff. this for example:
that's jumpstyle man it makes hardcore punk sound like rush
hardcore punk what? Is that like traditional Hardcore Punk or is that some sub genre like Progressive Dreamfunk or some shit?
also don't ever use the words "techno" or "electronica" when talking about dance music or any other electronic music
-snip-
hardcore punk what? Is that like traditional Hardcore Punk or is that some sub genre like Progressive Dreamfunk or some shit?
I don't know you tell me
I wasn't, I was referring to the incorporation of electronic/techno into other genres, good sir. [editline]18th December 2010[/editline]
I don't know you tell me
What the hell does Black Flag have to do with what I'm talking about though? I know what Hardcore Punk is, but we're talking about "X"step and shit like that.
but yeah to actually answer your question, op imagine this some people listen to music just because they like it
i dunno it has it's great stuff. this for example:
I don't really consider this as the stuff I'm talking about. I mean like my example given and shit like Japanese pop singer remixes that are all spacey/floaty and sound like they're inspired by a DDR game [editline]18th December 2010[/editline]
but yeah to actually answer your question, op imagine this some people listen to music just because they like it
imagine this that's not what I'm asking
Who cares. I don't enjoy dubstep, and I still find it pointless to wonder why other people do or don't enjoy the same music I do. What I enjoy is really all that matters to me.
imagine this that's not what I'm asking
you posed the question "I get that it may be catchy and easy to listen to, but there's plenty of easy and catchy things that are also much more than the same 40 second bit looped with an occasional wrench thrown in. Is it that you're not really a fan of music and just like the noise in the background? Is it that you just don't give a fuck? Is it that you know nothing else?" and I gave you the answer "because they like it" :ms:
Who cares. I don't enjoy dubstep, and I still find it pointless to wonder why other people do or don't enjoy the same music I do. What I enjoy is really all that matters to me.
yeah mostly this
"Also, I know that people have differing tastes. I'm not saying you can't. I'd just like to see what people see in that kind of stuff."
"Also, I know that people have differing tastes. I'm not saying you can't. I'd just like to see what people see in that kind of stuff."
well jumpstyle's easy to dance to and it's got lots of bass for the chavs and their stolen car stereos to be honest this style of music is so insignificant it's not even worth discussing I can guarantee you that in at least one year's time none of your friends will be listening to this stuff
there's one reason. That is what I'm looking for. No need to be rude, I'm not attacking anyone's taste.
there's one reason. That is what I'm looking for. No need to be rude, I'm not attacking anyone's taste.
you sort of are to be honest and I gave you two reasons don't short change me prick
No I'm not, you have some sort of hostility just because I cannot see what others see in this genre, and that I'm legitimately curious as to why they enjoy it. "because they like it" is like answering "Yes" to my question. That is not what I was looking for. I'm not short changing you for the second answer, as partly sarcastic as it may have been. [editline]18th December 2010[/editline] So far, 4chan's /mu/ has handled this question much more maturely than FP. Not surprising.
Some people just have more simple tastes than others. A guido can fist-pump to unf-unf-unfs all night long and have the time of his life, in the same way a metalhead can whip their hair to CHUGACHUGACHUGA, some folks are just more easily amused I guess.
Oh no, not another one of these threads again.
your friends listen to shitty "techno" mate
So far, 4chan's /mu/ has handled this question much more maturely than FP. Not surprising.
so your you're effectively comparing the performance of 4chan to facepuch? do you want to know why people like dubstep or are you just pulling off a dick measuring contest because you're a snob?
dis some filthy dubstep though
dis some filthy dubstep though
That was so obnoxious.
so your you're effectively comparing the performance of 4chan to facepuch? do you want to know why people like dubstep or are you just pulling off a dick measuring contest because you're a snob?
I posted the question in two locations in hopes of more answers. What is with people in this section being so fucking hostile and quick to jump to conclusions?
I posted the question in two locations in hopes of more answers. I'm sorry for being blunt but that is how I feel.
your friends listen to shitty "techno" mate
Agreed
I do have to say that in my opinion dubstep sucks cock. To me it is nothing more than a contest to be grimey. I think if anyone spends alot of time in Music then they'd know that I'm a dnb/electro house/electro person.
What is with people in this section being so fucking hostile and quick to jump to conclusions?
we already have all these trivial matters sorted out we don't need more threads like this but /mu/ however...
Forgive me but the content of your posts has left the impression on me that you sir are some kind of hipster music snob. I'm sorry for being blunt but that is how I feel.
No, not really. I do have a strong opinion about music. But, I understand people like what they like. I just get the feeling from this stuff, that music meant for dancing and rhythm in clubs being listened to casually at home while playing League of Legends is just weird.
I'm pretty sure this has been played at a club or two would it be weird to listen to this at home
