Fitting for october. Pretty cool video about one of the best shows ever.
Fuck this show, this shit scarred the fuck outta me. I remember staying awake after watching it on cartoon network, just laying in my bed horrified. Especially the fucking episode with the Foxes...

Even courage himself was scary, the teeth and his voice got me along with the villains

just remember fellas
you're not perfect.
I miss this show so much, everything about it was perfect. I actually get upset watching a few of the episodes now, knowing there isn't more.

If anything, the show had a proper closure. And that episode was so good as well .

I dunno, I never found anything scary. Unsettling maybe, this being one of the characters I put into that basket, and thats even counting the Katz Motel with all the spiders, which I am terribly afraid of, but never really was freaked out over with this. Probably because of how Courage himself freaked out in the craziest way ever, albeit with good reason.
Katz is the coolest villain ever though. His theme music tone, the way he speaks, the way he's an asshole that gets his hands dirty in an actual psycho kind of way... And all that with the coolest, most relaxed way ever.
I never really think about which cartoons were actually my favourite, sort of jumping inbetween stuff I watch here and there and going "yeah this might be my favourite", but in all honesty, this plus a few other gems from CN take the cake. Yes theres nostalgia involved, but I can't do much about that, plus, there isn't much else these days that I look at, or anything else back in the days of Courage and Ed Edd and Eddy and PPG and Megas XLR and so on, that I can say made this much impact.
And Dr. Zaloost's Tower episode felt like a movie to me. Being in two parts and having that story made it feel like something more than the usual episodes, which I feel like it really was.
I just found that guy a bit unsettling myself, but not genuinely scary. Ramses on the other hand...

There's no such thing as perfect: you're beautiful as you are - with all your imperfections, you can do anything.
what's with people talking about how they freaked out when they watched courage? I don't remember being scared at all as a kid, I only remember finding the episodes extremely bizarre. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely adored the show, but whenever I watched it, I was really never out-right scared so much as I was weirded out. And this is coming from someone who can't stand modern horror movies and their stupid fucking jump scares (with a few exceptions).

Courage was such a fantastic show. Space Chicken and Spirit of The Harvest Moon are also A+.
This was my favorite show as a kid. I dunno what that says about little 9 year old me

This guy never ever bothered me. It was actually one of my favorite episodes
Watching this made me realize I still have lots of episodes I've never seen due to the inconsistent Cartoon Network episode schedule when I was a kid.

There was an episode where a zombie who ate people came to their house to dig up his murder partner that's been buried in their basement the entire time so they can start eating people again, starting with the family.
I don't know how that can't scare the fuck out of you when you're 9. I can't think of a single other cartoon on CN that has anywhere close to the tone that Courage had.
Ramses scared the crap out of me as a kid, but the episode that got to me the most was the episode where a demon was in a mattress and possessed people that slept in it. After seeing it I refused to go to bed and my mom had to force me to because I was terrified that a demon would possess me too.
EDIT: It's even in the start of the video.
that episode with the nasty purple foot always grossed me out
i was never scared of the show, more like intrigued by how bizarre it was
This series got away with a lot of stuff, surprisingly. Like all the times they kill/fuck over Eustace at the end of episodes, family-friendly decapitations and heavily implied deaths off-screen (especially early series, like the two robbers in King Ramses), Courage's overactive imagination sometimes being surprisingly visceral with his feared fates for Muriel and so forth.
I remember being really scared of the Ramses episode and the one with the live-action white head. In hindsight it was the uncanny valley of the cgi and the juxtaposition of the different mediums coupled with the cartoonish style of the show (which is a genius way of making something scary by the way)
But the one that scared me the most by far was the Exorcist inspired episode with the Mattress. Seeing sweet old Muriel being slowly corrupted and the atmosphere in the bedroom was downright terrifying. I fucking love that show man
I was pretty scared of that one episode where they fall down into what looks to be the inside of a giant stomach. I suppose that came from Halo 3's gravemind.

Like he said the music in this show was incredible, and the one I remember most still is Dr. Zalost.

He was definitely right about the music though.
