I revamped my channel! Tell me what you guys think, NEW videos listed HERE in the OP !!!
I know I'm asking alot, but that is because I feel that you guys give the most honest feedback! And I've listened! <3 (I hope)
Hey guys, I'm sorry for self advertising, but I want an honest opinion about what you guys think of my stuff.
And because of this self advertisement, I honestly expect nothing more then shit comments, but if anyone want to give me constructive feedback I will listen :)
The title and thumbnail is kinda clickbaity, but it does represent the content you're about to watch

So yeah, if you've taken your time to watch these, I can inform you guys that I've listened to your feedback, and I've revamped my channel.
It might not be _VERY_ original, but at least I had fun doing it, and that's what it's all about!
And the feedback from my viewers have been better then regular.
Side-note: I've not really changed my way of doing commentary, but I've cut them down to a more pleasing format, and as an effect of that I've reduced the amount of videos that are coming out daily.
And the reason why I'm coming back here, is because some of you guys have given me the best feedback. It might not be the "correct" audience, but I like you guys.
Thank you <3
no thanks not interested

Thank you for your honest opinion.
Quite boring, no humor, nothing unique. Nice production quality though.
While I don't like the concept of facecams at least yours doesn't take up the entire upper left hand corner.
Your commentary is really lacking. You use speech patterns which are kind of annoying to hear (e.g. "I don't really know why I'm playing this game" makes me think "I don't really know why I'm watching this video"), and you don't really make jokes or anything. Commentary should add something to the video, not just be there. If you look at the top Let's Players on YouTube, most all of them are there because people find them funny.
Take some theater classes at your local community college or anywhere you can take them. Acting, comedy, speech, and improv skills are what you need.
Of course, you could develop these on your own over time, but taking classes (if you can afford them) would accelerate the process and provide valuable feedback.
You seem like a cool guy but you really didn't bring anything to the table here.
this is pretty nitpicky, but don't put all caps in your titles, that just sorta seems too clickbaity for me.
as others have said, your commentary is really lacking, but I think what would really help that is if you did something like edit out all the static and boring parts.
Oh yeah, fuck clickbaitey titles. Those are annoying as shit and would immediately dissuade me from even clicking on your video if it were recommended to me by YouTube.
Generic
Thank you all for your feedback, much appreciated! :)
I understand your criticism, and it's nice to see honest comments about my stuff :)
By replying to you guys, I wanna try to clarify some things, not to defend myself, but clarify.
The reason for my Dishonored video being pretty much a "one-take" experience, is because when it comes to story based games, I like to keep it as a whole. But that's more of a personal preference, I'm not trying to distract the audience away from the actual game and gameplay.
So I'm only trying to add my thoughts and opinions as I go along.
So yeah, I can understand why people would find me generic, I can see why you'd get that impression.
When it comes to jokes and such, I'm not trying to force myself at being funny, I'm not trying to put on an act. Jokes are pulled where I feel it would come naturally. So occasionally jokes are thrown around, and I'm pretty sure there is a couple of jokes in the Dishonored video as well, but I could be mistaken.. And it's a long video.
I could edit my videos down to about half the length, but I feel that it might ruin the actual gameplay experience for the viewers. And another reason for them being long, is because I don't have much spare time to actually take the huge effort it takes to edit my videos.
So you could say my stuff is more for the fan of the games I play, rather then actually trying to be funny.
I think you could say I'm a mix between Gassy Mexican and Cry.
I'm not trying to be Markiplier, nor Pewdiepie.
Thank to Evilcop for suggesting me taking acting classes, I might actually do so :)
And when it comes to clickbait titles, I try to maintain a certain line between actual clickbait and respectable titles. And sadly, the only way of being discovered is mostly through clickbait.
I was actually gonna bring up Cry; he's unlike other LPers and fills a niche. It's hard to describe, but it feels like going on an adventure with him as your guide when you watch his videos.
And I see what you're going for, and that's a fine niche to fill, but it's definitely not an easy one. Comedy is the easiest way to keep your audience entertained and engaged. If you choose not to go the comedy route, mad respect for you. But it's gonna be a while before you find your voice and differentiate yourself as an LPer that way. Those acting classes would probably still do you a great deal of good though :v:
The only tip I can really give you on that front is to still try to keep your audience engaged. As long as you are quiet during cutscenes, it won't take away anything from the game. As the Game Grumps say, "The only 'act' we put on is forcing ourselves to talk more." Remember, pretty much any game you play is gonna have videos of it on YouTube without commentary. If people wanted a pure gameplay experience or something, they would go watch those.
Best of luck to you man, I hope I was clear enough in what I said here. You seem like a pretty cool guy :-)
Removed the actual videos from this post, because I've revamped my channel.

You're trying way too hard to be like everyone else. Youre even doing that annoying face-in-the-thumbnail stuff which is pretty obnoxious

To be fair the face-in-the-thumbnail stuff is "supposed" to increase user interest/viewership. That being said, I think the main problem people have with these videos (on Facepunch at least ) is that it comes off as disingenuous when they are presented in such a fashion. As other people have stated, it just seems too formulaic. That being said, I'm sure there's an audience for what you're doing; it's just not face punch.

There is an audience, and that audience is already watching all the top lpers.
You're trying way too hard to be like everyone else. Youre even doing that annoying face-in-the-thumbnail stuff which is pretty obnoxious
This is actually not true.
You honestly believe that people aren't similar? Out of the 7300000000 people on earth, not a single person has similarities or is equal in personality to another?
That's being really ignorant.
I believe that several thousands of people around the world are pretty much equal in personality.
I'm myself, I try to maintain my actual personality in the videos, not putting on a role or anything. What you see, is pretty much how I am IRL. (of course not reacting to everything, because that would make things awkward)
And yes, I'm doing the "face in the thumbnail" thingy, because it gains attention. Everything about getting people to click your video, because of the thumbnail or title, should represent the content you're about to watch.
So yea, I have my face in the video, talking and reacting to the environment, so I have my face in the thumbnail, and a title that describes somewhat what to expect when clicking the video.

I'm asking for honest feedback, and I felt that the two latest videos I linked might contain some more entertainment value than others.
But yeah, I know that facepunch is probably not the "correct" audience, but we're all people with an opinion, and people on facepunch is often more honest than others :)

The LP category is _REALLY_ hard to break into, I know. I'm not trying to become famous or anything, but I want to better myself.
And as long as one person like what I do, I'm pleased, even if it's my mom :)

When you see a face doing a dumb face in a thumbnail means you're about to watch a bad video, that's what it represents.
So either take the feedback and improve your actual content of the videos to gain clicks instead of baiting them would be a start.

Considering that pretty much all the famous youtubers do EXACTLY this, I beg to differ.
And please, tell me how to gain people's attention by not having a descriptive title and thumbnail.
Considering that pretty much all the famous youtubers do EXACTLY this, I beg the differ.
why follow other famous youtubers? try being original. do your own style than doing what "most famous youtubers" do :v
hell, penguinz0 doesn't even try on thumbnails of his videos and people love him.
why follow other famous youtubers? try being original. do your own style than doing what "most famous youtubers" do :v.
Sure, I'd love to, that's what I try to do in the actual video.
The thumbnail and title need to be a little clickbait no-matter how you put it. You need a catchy thumbnail and a catchy title to get people to click the video. That's youtube 101
hell, penguinz0 doesn't even try on thumbnails of his videos and people love him.
Well, he already is famous, so he doesn't really need to, his titles are catchy.
It's like my fellow Norwegian friend and youtuber "Noobwork"
He pretty much got the same personality as CaptainSparklez, but he's already famous, so he doesn't have to bother with doing thumbnails, or doesn't have the tools and knowledge about how to do them.
But Noobwork doesn't need to, he's famous already.
BUT! that being said, I am gonna move away from having my face in the thumbnails after I've gotten more time to actually work on my thumbnails.. Right now they're really simple, and they kinda work so far, but I want to put more work into them.
Sure, I'd love to, that's what I try to do in the actual video.

Depends on what audience you want to attract. If you're aiming for numbers, then yeah for immature audiences it kinda works but at the same time there is nothing unique about this, they'd rather click on pewd or mark than someone unknown who has these thumbnails.

Stop trying to be a famous youtuber as if that's your objective. That's just about the most pathetic thing that anyone wanting to upload gameplay could do.
Heck, Cr1tikal doesn't do webcamface or thumbnails and he has over a mil subs.
Shit, same with VEGETTA777 whi has over 10 million subs and doesn't have special thumbnail pictures photoshopped to appeal to whoever.
Just do your own shit.
You most probably won't get famous, you most likely won't be able to make this into a career, just be yourself and not what (to me) just seems like a forced attempt to emulate the famous youtubers.

You got it all wrong, I'm not trying to become famous, not at all.
But I like doing what I do, I am being myself and not trying to impersonate anyone else.
Sure, I'm trying to pick up on some things other successful people do, but I'm not trying to be anyone else than myself.
But alright, I'm actually gonna do an experiment. I'm gonna take my next Batman video, and not have my face in the thumbnail, and we'll see. :)
Nothing special to be honest, pretty clickbaity.
They are much too long.
Considering that pretty much all the famous youtubers do EXACTLY this, I beg the differ.
just fyi it's "beg to differ" as 'differ' is a verb, which means to disagree. It's not quite the same as 'begging the question' structurally.
Considering that pretty much all the famous youtubers do EXACTLY this, I beg the differ.

If you want to make quality videos, you shouldn't just be in this for the attention and viewcount. Focus on investing your time on making quality content that other YouTube channels can't offer.
If you're not going to go down the comedy route (without it being extremely forced) make sure that you're extremely knowledgeable about the game's content, the industry, and the development team - think along the lines of TotalBiscuit here.
Also, I'd avoid making long, multi-video let's plays of games, at least until you have properly developed your own creative personality. People will often find these boring and won't even bother watching them. Perhaps consider short but informative game reviews, or a more condensed version of your LPs.
I wish you the best of luck, but I agree with the others in saying that I usually don't even bother clicking thumbnails like the ones you have. It just screams low-quality sellout.
Posting Lets Plays of your own work should be a bannable offence, at this point it's just spam of the same shit over and over again. Not to mention all the feedback is exactly the same, since it's basically the exact same stuff over and over again.
I ask why people do this and they always say "I want to do what I love for a living" which makes sense, except you need to put creativity and originality into what you do, something that most lets players don't have.

Here's what I mean, he mentions Cr1tikal with over 1mill, there's also Dunkey with over 1mill, two of my favorite "Lets Players" who do something original that has payed off.
You're a sheep in the worlds biggest herd at the moment.
Speaking of Dunkey, this basically sums up Lets Plays (youtube gamers in general)

One other thing that has worked out for a few channels I like is to have let's plays as some kind of uncommon content, with the primary focus being other videos. For example, normal content (reviews, news, etc.) first, with streams done every once in awhile, and later edited and thrown onto youtube. Though, that depends on whether you want to do other types of videos at all or not.
