Two brothers surnamed Mak, aged 27 and 28, approached Bay on the set during filming for the American science fiction film and the younger brother demanded payment of HK$100,000 ($12,900), a police spokeswoman said. It was not immediately clear why the money was requested. As a discussion ensued in a busy area of Hong Kong island, the elder Mak walked up and assaulted the director, the spokeswoman said. The elder brother then attacked three police officers who tried to intervene, she added. The younger brother was arrested on suspicion of blackmail and assault, while the elder Mak was also arrested on suspicion of assault, she said. Bay sustained injuries to the right side of his face, although he declined to seek treatment, the spokeswoman said, adding she did not believe his injuries were serious. Filming continued after the dispute. Bay was not available for comment.
http://www.dnaindia.com/entertainment/1904852/report-transformers-4-director-michael-bay-attacked-on-set-in-hong-kong
Very strange. It doesn't seem like a lot of money, but does it get you a lot in Hong Kong?

Must be a good movie... oh wait...
"Give me $100,000 or my brother will beat you up." I expect more subtlety out of China's politicians.
"Give me $100,000 or my brother will beat you up." I expect more subtlety out of China's politicians.
It was actually closer to only 13k in our monies
I'm surprised Michael didn't explode as a defense mechanism.
Preventing this is actually quite tricky as film crews can be pretty huge and everyone tends to be rushing about. The chances of someone stopping you and asking who you are is pretty slim if you manage to get past the public barriers. Not to mention if your shot has a lot of extras involved who will hang about in-between shoots.
If Sleeping Dogs taught me anything it's that HK$100,000 isn't really that hard to come by, you just have to find glowing lockboxes.
I guess you could say they tried to shanghai him and ended up in the chi- I mean clink.

Will it be in the bloopers?
Somewhat related info incoming! In Hard Boiled's production, John Woo had to pay off the triads in order to finish filming the restuarant scene.
Today I realized that a fourth Transformers movie is in production. I looked up towards the heavens and asked "Why?"
I'm surprised Michael didn't explode as a defense mechanism.
He ran out of special effects for the day.
