I'm not sure what's more astonishing, the fact that we've hit that historical point where being taken as a POW is the least deadly option when they lose a fight, OR that these men are probably JUST THAT RADICAL that they're going to go full viking on the idea of dying in battle, even in a fight they know they've already lost

suicide bombers know they're making an effect, a few foot soldiers who are backed into a hopeless corner aren't exactly in a moment of glory and notoriety. Returning to base to fight another day seems rational even for zealots yet here we are with leadership lighting them on fire for not just falling on opposition bayonets when they realized they couldn't win
