I'm not surprised. Microsoft will grab anything and shout "PLEEAAASE JUST BUY OUR CONSOLE!", tears streaming down their eyes.

Dead Rising 3 and Ryse are also Xbone exclusives :)

Yes microsoft is trying to get exclusives just like PS4/Wii did, however PS4/Wii did it before the console was launched where more people were okay with it. Xbox just realized they aren't selling consoles on the name, and are now trying to get games. Angry Joe again is saying nothing no one knew already.

When you feel like you've sold enough consoles because of your "exclusive" go ahead and allow the devs to port or remake it into a multi-plat game. Step 4. Rinse and Repeat.

I'm glad i never was into tomb raider so i didnt have to be hit by such earth shattering dissapointment

I honestly don't think Rise of the Tomb Raider is really necessary. The first one was a prequel, so all of the sequels are already out there.

Well that sucks. Tomb Raider 2013 was the game that brought my dad to play games again after 10 years and he loved it (though he played on mac but still). I guess that will make him a little upset. By the way Xbone isn't even launched officially here.

Rinse and Repeat.[/QUOTE] It happens with a lot of games in general, typically an exclusivity contract has an expiry date and if it never comes to another platform it generally just means it was a long contract and they don't think it's worth it by then as most people who want it will have it.

Tomb Raider 2013 was a very effective multi-plat game for what it was, even if Square-Enix complains it undersold in comparison to how much money it took to make the game (but that's a different argument altogether). Now this is exclusive to a console that already has lots of controversy and doubt circling around it, and while it'll probably get quite a few sales, it [i]will[/i] suffer as a result and suffocate the sales as well as piss off fans who expected to be able to play it on the PS4 as well.

If a developer feels their game is best suited to a certain platform for reasons like a strong emphasis on local multiplayer for consoles or moddability and online play for pc, that's fine, but contracts that restrict a title to certain platforms solely because of a monetary contract are garbage.

Tomb Raider 2013 wasn't even that great anyway. It tried too much to be like an Uncharted game and failed horribly at character development with Lara massacring literally hundreds of people not long after she cried over killing a single person.
