They are smart and they're effective in the worst sense; so far as spraying unknown materials in the faces of crowds because they disagree politically on a charged issue. Any dogmatic look at anything is at fault almost immediately and you can see this in their targets they hit; they'll go after normal groups of people or protesters as they will go after men like Vladimir Putin.
You can care about something and still be completely fucking wrong in both approach and reasoning for supporting such movements.

I haven't been following FEMEN closely, but judging from this video it's pretty obvious that they accomplish media attention and spark discussion. Some negative, some positive.

No, it exposes some people as violent and easy to piss off. That's not morals, that's just behavioral issues.
FEMEN is a very minor influence on the media. They've been trying to start shit in France at regular intervals and failed to get any more attention than a brief mention in the news once every six months. They sprayed people with fire extinguishers filled with water during a protest against gay marriage (which, as dumb as protesting against gay marriage is, was a peaceful protest), and later set a couple of things on fire in the street to "support" an Arabic woman who showed her breasts on her blog (the Arabic feminist community responded by telling them to fuck off and stop ruining everything).

Really? They certainly keep making international headlines. As I said, I haven't been following SEMEN very closely at all. I'm talking about this event, and not their activism in general. Sounds like you know a lot more of them than me.
