On June 16, 2011 at 11:30 AM EST, BMW will start taking orders for the car you see here, the 2011 Frozen Black Edition M3 Coupe. Only 20 examples will be produced, with the first 19 being sold on a first come, first serve basis to anyone willing to plunk down $79,650. BMW North America will hold on to the 20th car (you know, for auto shows and such), though it may be sold on a later date.
So, what does nearly $80,000 net you? Obviously, all the grace and glory of the M3 Coupe, complete with its 4.0-liter, 414-horsepower V8. The Frozen Black coupes will only be available with the M DCT dual-clutch transmission, which lowers the 0-60 time from 4.7 seconds to 4.5.
All 20 coupes will be fitted with BMW's M3 Competition Package, not to mention optional goodies like the full premium and convenience packages, as well as things like heated seats, satellite radio and a premium sound system. In addition to the Frozen Black paint, this special M3 is set apart from its kin with black Novillo leather with red contrast stitching, M3 GTS wheels (painted black, of course), red brake calipers and a whole lot of other sinister design touches.
For the full list of Frozen Black M3 equipment, hit the jump for BMW's official press release. Customers will be able to take delivery of their cars starting at the end of June, with the full production run to be completed by the end of July.

Wow a matte black BWM!
dyxklexic?
I want one of these cars.
But I'm too poor.
They probably spent less to produce it than a regular M3.
matte black so cool limited edition
ewww matt
I hate matte paintjobs. They always remind me of poorly done coats of paint on old cars.
It sure is black
It's an M3 in Matte Black with Black rims. How is this special?

it's a special stealth exclusive paint that costs an extra $20,000
Am I the only one who likes matte black cars?
I'd still take a GT-R for $80k.
I only like the wheels and brake calipers. Hell I'd just buy a new M3 and slap those on.

It's Matte, yet so shiny.
It's more for BMW enthusiasts anyway.
I saw alot of matte BMW's and they look great.
But the I wonder what happens if you get a scratch on it.

why?
it's just matte paint.. nothing more than getting a scratch on any other paint would happen

you can't hide scratches on matte paint by waxing. also scratches are more visible on matte paint.
buy more matte paint.
I don't think you would worry much about a scratch if you paid $80k for your car. Sure, you'd be pissed, but you wouldn't be without the funds to get it touched up by a professional.

Just because it costs $80k? It's just an upgraded BMW with new paint.

He's saying that a scratch wouldn't matter because if you had that kind of money you could just pay for a service to take it out.
o
that's actually not that bad a deal considering only 20 will be made
Huh. So I went onto BMW's website, and if you build you own car, with all the goodies you can have on it, it happens to be MORE expensive then this limited edition one, which has nearly all the goodies.
The only word that pops up in my mind is gimmick.
