David Letterman is preparing to announce his retirement from CBS next year.
Letterman is expected to discuss his plan to retire in about a year on Thursday’s edition of “The Late Show.”
Last year, Letterman re-upped his latenight contract with the Eye network in a two-year deal that was expected to be his last.
As of next year, Letterman will have hosted “Late Show” on CBS for 22 years. He logged 11 years as host of NBC’s “Late Night” before famously being passed over at NBC for Johnny Carson’s throne on “The Tonight Show” — over Carson’s objection.
Good. It's not that I dislike David Letterman, but it means that awesome Craig Ferguson may receive a better time slot.
I wonder who will take over.

and his black and white cat
Oh dear lord thank you jesus, I mean yeah I was happy Leno was leaving but he wasn't ultra terrible. He could at least be funny sometimes.
But Letterman has been garbage since like the 80's. I can't believe how bland he is with guests and how unfunny he is.

Louis CK
It'd be really good if Craig gets more time or even takes over the show
Louis CK
Jerry Seinfeld, they're already printing the shirts.

Jesus christ get CBS on the phone now!

Ya gotta go away, to come back.
Louis CK
"So I hear you've got a new movie coming out. I gotta tell ya, it's looks like shit.

Only on the proviso that Geoff sticks around, and Craig gets to be as outrageous and inappropriate as he currently is.
Not sure if Craig will take over or not, since I believe he has said he is happy where he is, but that could all change.
[sp]Rumor has had it that Letterman will retire at the same time that Conan's current deal with TBS would expire and Conan would come over to CBS and take Letterman's current spot and have him and Craig be a super power of late night. This would be with Craig's blessing of course.[/sp]
nobody cares about this old irrelevant faggot anymore

It's not even that, the fucking dude is actually rude to his guests. He's always come off as a weirdo in general and once the revelation came out that he was fucking his staff members behind his wife's back it only confirmed it.

It's plausible since Letterman did leave NBC on bad footing sorta like Conan.
It's plausible since Letterman did leave NBC on bad footing sorta like Conan.
Yeah, what's more they'd have a chance for making CBS bigger than NBC in terms of late shows. Jimmy Fallon is definitely the biggest now out of the bunch, but it will take few more years until people get used to Seth Meyers. Out of all, only Conan can compare to Fallon in terms of popularity, and when not on a cable, he may get even more popular.
I wouldn't mind it, but I'd prefer Craig Ferguson as a main star. He's easily the best late show host in terms of actual talking with guests.

He's the best in terms of everything. He straight up doesn't give a single fuck and it's absolutely brilliant.

He also seems like he's legit friends with a lot of his guests.
