Oh great, now Microsoft's consoles are doing this too
Why did they take inspiration from the Windows update manager?
"Quick! Tap X to postpone"
That is ridiculous.
"Quick! Tap X to postpone"
Just like in Ryse
They keep spitting out reasons to not buy the damn thing
Son of a bitch why! WHY!
Is it so difficult for microsoft to add a "Postpone until next manual restart" for their shit.
Now that's just stupid.
I assume there will be an option to turn off automatic updates.
Now console will have an equivalent to accidently pressing windows button, except I assume it closes the game and not just minimizes it.
It's like Microsoft's big plan is to try to get the gamers to come up with good things about the xbone so they can use them for marketing. Or not.
Did Microsoft really just copy the Ouya?
I once played in a LoL tournament at a LAN Party, Windows update kicked in mid-round and shut down everyone's computers. Safe to say whoever said "Let's make Windows update restart without first confirming with the user!" is on my top 5 people I want to punch list.
Hate when Windows does this, I don't know why Microsoft just can't have the default as "Download whenever but let me choose when to install them"
When they said the xbone shares code with windows 8 they sure weren't lying

my favourite windows feature! thanks microsoft
Sony makes their consoles sound great when announced and then release info that makes them much less appealing (i.e. no mp3 support) Microsoft makes their console sound crap when announced and then backpedals their little pr exercise bike off a cliff
If the games have on-the-spot saving wont this adjust for it? Or am I giving that feature too much credit?
If the games have on-the-spot saving wont this adjust for it? Or am I giving that feature too much credit?
It's still not OK to be chucked out of a game whenever the console sees fit.
There is actually a registry tweak that turns off the auto restart bullshit in windows.
Great, another reason for never buying this console.
Huh?
Notice he said the default setting, which it isn't.
Hate when Windows does this, I don't know why Microsoft just can't have the default as "Download whenever but let me choose when to install them"
Its there to prevent storm and Blaster and SadMind Because people don't restart their computer microsoft give you 2 days warning its going to happen then forces you to update to prevent situations where worm attacks can last more then 2 days. Making Microsoft able to patch any security issue 100% (As long as they have windows updates enabled, You are silly if you do not) in 2 days rather then praying everyone restarts their computer at some point.
Notice he said the default setting, which it isn't.
Shit, missed that. OOps.
Google manages to run different versions of their servers at the same time while rolling out updates and they open-sourced the code for the connection layer enabling this. I have not the slightest idea why Microsoft can't just take that transfer format and not break running sessions while the server updates. Rerouting connections should be almost trivial by now. They can't do a "postpone update" button by the way, as this is Microsofts ridiculous "let's run part of the game on a remote server because apparently the console isn't fast enough" thing. If they update everything at the same time and can't migrate sessions it's going to kick everyone no matter what.
And of course there's no way to turn this shit off, either, is there?
I assume there will be an option to turn off automatic updates.
How can they prevent filthy consumer scum from hacking the system without constant and complete real-time control of the hardware? This is all the pirates' faults, Microsoft didn't want to have to do it, they were forced to for your protection.
