Ah, so looking forward to this!
Eh. Liked the other one better. This just seems like a generic action movie trailer.
I don't know if the movie will be any good but I loved that trailer.
I had hoped they'd use this third one more as a connector to the LotR series. But it seems it'll be just more added sub-plots. Still probably going to be very enjoyable.
Some of that CGI looked pretty unbelievable. I'm sure it'll be a decent movie, but eh, I still don't know who's who except for the dwarf leader dude and the characters who were in the original trilogy.
Ack totally missed opportunity to use Youtube 60FPS for an HFR trailer :(

Peter Jackson put him self through hell to make sure everything had a high amount of detail. It made his life a living hell which was why he was reluctant at first to do The Hobbit. When these movies came around he decided to just say fuck it and use more CGI. They use to spend all day hand crafting unique armor sets and background stories for orcs that would only have a few seconds of screen time :v:
Peter Jackson seems like he's stuck on the fence about either making this the youth-flavored feel of the book or a more mature lore-based kind of prequel. I wish he would have stuck to one option instead of flip-flopping between. Still going to watch it, because fuck yes
More Saruman, Elrond and Galadriel? Yes, please.
In my opinion the amount and quality of the CGI reminds me in a bad way of the Star Wars prequels. Like if you're going to lean so heavily on it why even bother having live action performances? For example, that atrocious fight between Legolas and CGI Orc baddy in a CGI set that culminated with CGI Legolas riding away on a CGI horse at 90mph. Most of it looked like a shitty video game. But who knows, maybe they're saving the best for last and the finale to the trilogy will be amazing. edit: Nearly forgot about Kraft Macaroni and Smaug.

Hobbit Gollum was some of the best cgi i've ever seen. Smaug was great aswell, but then you had the molten gold which looked like shite.
The CGI looks so inconsistent, and the sheer amount of it baffles me and it looks terrible. I'm sure the film will be great, but that much CG when Lord of the Rings got away with far less and it looking much better puts me off a bit. Reminds me of the Star Wars Prequels.
Calling it now, when the Elven king says "I came to reclaim something of mine" he's gonna follow up with "My honour" and then fight alongside the dwarfs.
More shite for the shite gods I guess. Yeah it looks pretty but it could look pretty without shitting all over the book.

The Lord of the Rings feel was completely gone. It actually reminded me of Pirates of the Caribbean more than anything, with its goofy, over-the-top action setpieces and exotic locals and characters. And I was perfectly fine with that. I liked that it moved away from LotR somewhat and got a life of its own. It was still a bit on the long side, but it was much better than the first at holding my attention. I hope this one opts for the same feel.
At 2:15 he puts the ring on his middle finger.
I like how Smaug was the big cliffhanger at the end of the last one, and then he's not even in the trailer for this one It will be great if he gets murdered in the first 5 minutes of the film

Desolation being light, Five Armies being dark, and Unexpected Journey setting the stage for the two.

I'm only curious to see Elrond and team go on and save Gandalf. Other than that, the rest we've already seen it

Tolkien pretty much goes "[sp] MAN, you missed some ILL SHIT, Smaug destroyed Lake Town and then this guy named Bard showed up and killed him. He's our leader now. [/sp]"
Would have liked to have seen Béorn in this :(

the cgi might look wonky in this trailer, but it's always really amazing in the cinema with hfr, that's where it shines.
The dwarfs have even less personalities in the book, since 11 of them are only background characters.
Half of that, I think, is due to the half-assed way in which PJ tackled Mirkwood. The whole carrying Bombur thing would have been great!
