The family of a girl who UK police say may be headed to Syria with two friends have a message for her: We're not mad at you, and please come home. UK police said 15-year-old Shamima Begum and two other London girls took a flight to Istanbul from London Gatwick Airport on Tuesday. Their families have reported them missing, and London's Metropolitan Police say the girls are believed to be heading to Syria, where militant groups and government forces are locked in a war, and parts of which have been taken over by the Islamist terror group ISIS. "We miss you terribly and are extremely worried about you," Shamima's family said in a statement that Metropolitan Police released Saturday. "Please, if you hear this message, get in touch and let us know you are safe. We want you home with us. You belong at home with us. "Syria is a dangerous place and we don't want you to go there. Get in touch with the police and they will help to bring you home. You are not in any trouble." The family said it understands that Shamima has strong feelings about wanting to help those she believes are suffering in Syria.
http://www.cnn.com/2015/02/21/europe/uk-syria-missing-girls/index.html
It's horrible, but teenagers going to join ISIS isn't an uncommon occurrence nowadays. I still can't phatom why someone would even consider joining ISIS, no matter how much you think the Syrian people deserve help.
For those of you who read the title and nothing else:
The family said it understands that Shamima has strong feelings about wanting to help those she believes are suffering in Syria. "You can help from home, you don't have to put yourself in danger," the statement reads. "Please don't cross the border. Please come home to us. Our Mum needs you home and is really worried. We are not mad at you, we love you."
[editline]21st February 2015[/editline] She is not joining ISIS/terrorists/militia. She is going to help suffering people. The area is incredibly dangerous, and there were several very well-known cases last year about people who went to help that got killed/kidnapped. [editline]21st February 2015[/editline] I know I'm stating the extreme obvious, I just don't want the thread to descend into madness when people start posting "good riddance" or some shit.

Also the video in the article says their plans are probably to join ISIS.

The video in the source says they are joining ISIS.
Yes the article says they are going to help people. The video in the source says they are joining ISIS.
Video in source gives the same sources of info about the deal as the written article. In the video when talking to the Met, they guy doesn't mention joining ISIS, only going to Syria. Joining ISIS is only given by the journalists talking in the video.
Also the video in the article says their plans are probably to join ISIS.
I see that part, as their movement plans do mirror those of many ISIS recruits. Going on the quote given by the family though ("help out at home") would imply that they do not have the intentions to do any terrorizing. Then again, the family isn't likely to just say out on the news that their daughter is planning to do some terrorizing.

"UK police are concerned about the number of girls and young women trying to head to areas of Syria controlled by ISIS, Walton said." And men and boys are of no concern?
Will they be bringing back their many kids too?
"UK police are concerned about the number of girls and young women trying to head to areas of Syria controlled by ISIS, Walton said." And men and boys are of no concern?
I think that they mean that women might be abused/used as sex slaves
I can't even begin to understand what would make you think joining ISIS was/is a good idea. I mean, how does "likely to be killed" + "may get raped" + "going to murder innocent people for shits n giggles" = "Let's go join ISIS!"?

People who join ISIS or are affiliated with ISIS that come back to the western world need to be tried as terrorists. No matter their background, joining or affiliating with a terrorist organisation is something that cannot be overlooked - especially with their aggressive expansion in the middle east.
They quite possibly believe they are fighting the good fight in the name of Allah?
So they're catastrophically retarded?
Let them go, it's like an idiot cull to be honest.
Let them go, it's like an idiot cull to be honest.
I hate to say it, but with as many people that are going to join Isis and wind up begging people to come rescue them, they had it coming.
