I propose to you a new campaign - Cannibal Corpse this time for UK Xmas number one.

Before you dismiss this thread, imagine the satisfaction of hearing a song of Cannibal Corpse's come on the radio at the end of the countdown, having just won the Christmas number one spot. It would truly be a landmark in musical history.
We all know, love and cherish the admirable campaign to push a less reserved and less mainstream artist to the number one spot, ahead of the repetitive tyranny of the X Factor winners. When RATM's Killing in The Name beat Joe McElderry's cover of The Climb, many of us rejoiced.
Now I suggest to YOU fellow Facepuncher, the opportunity to go one step further this time. Many of you will have heard of Cannibal Corpse, as they have been widely publicised for the violent nature of their songs, and the crude art featured on their albums. This campaign could potentially be the greatest crime in musical history, an American death metal band taking the UK Christmas number one spot. A controversial band, previously banned to some extent in Australia and Germany, against all the odds beating off the mainstream atrocities that most people call 'music'.
Now, you may be wondering why I think this is at all possible...
The band has released eleven studio albums, one box set, and one live album. Throughout the years the band has been established, they have had little radio or television exposure, although a cult following began to build behind the group with the release of albums such as 1991's Butchered at Birth and 1992's Tomb of the Mutilated which both reached over one million in worldwide sales by 2003, including 558,929 in the United States, making them the top-selling death metal band of all time in the US, and second worldwide.
Seeing as Cannibal Corpse are playing at Bloodstock this year, it'd be safe to assume that a fairly large percentage of their fanbase is in the UK and for many people who enjoy the heavier genres of metal such as death metal, this could be somewhat of a symbolic attempt. I figure that a lot of metal fans would love to see this happen.
Have some pictures.

Of course this requires what the RATM campaign required, a hell of a lot of people buying the single despite them disliking the song and a hell of a lot of 'telling your friend'. Should this be picked up and taken on by people, and should this prove successful, then it would be an even greater coup than last Christmas. This could be great.
The choice of song isn't necessarily important, as I doubt many people would buy the single for its musical value. Personally I suggest Evidence in the Furnace, mainly because the name sounds less crude. I'm not a fan though, so any Cannibal Corpse fans are welcome to put forward any song that might be better.
No, Entrails Ripped From A Virgin's Cunt is NOT a viable suggestion.
Hmm it's got a good factor in it but RATM was chosen because of the meaning of the song (ie we won't buy your shitty album you tell us to buy)
Who even likes that trashy emo shite?
Who even likes that trashy emo shite?
Trashy emo's.
sort of awnsered your own question there.
Hammer Smashed Face is a good song.
Who even likes that trashy emo shite?
Ah ha ha ha ha oh wow. I don't even like death metal but I know CC isn't "emo shite"
EDIT: And by that I mean it may be "shite", but it's not "emo shite"
I used to listen to these guys when I was in Grade 9, no wonder I have no friends.
No but really, it's kinda terrible. Sorry.
Hammer Smashed Face is a good song.

Cannibal Corpse also paradoxically enjoyed a brief cameo in the 1994 Jim Carrey film Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, performing an abridged version of their song "Hammer Smashed Face." Carrey is apparently a huge fan of the band and insisted that they perform in the movie.
Jim Carrey agrees with you. :v:
I like death metal and such but Cannibal Corpse is just bad.
This will not end well.
It should be whitechapel.

Did you really just call Cannibal Corpse "emo"
That's like saying Johnny Cash sucks because you can't stand j-pop

You are aware that the campaign to get Rage Against The Machine to number one was engineered by Sony? They owned the rights to all the songs that were supposedly up against each other.
killing in the name succeeded because it was already a popular song
As much as I'd love to see CC at number one I don't think it's gonna happen

Proof?
Did you really just call Cannibal Corpse "emo"
Exactly what I was thinking
This is "trashy emo shite"

I'm down with this. It'd be amazing to see "I cum blood" as #1 :D

Riiiight...

Should be Nofx's "Leaving Jesusland"

Cannibal Corpse is a terrible band with shit lyrics, shit vocals and shit instrumentals.
Oh wow, violent album art, how disturbing and provocative.
Seth Putnam knows what he's talking about.

No.
It should be Praxis.

Just listen to that.
I think it'd be cool but:
-People won't back this. Rage last Xmas was more well known and mainstream, plus you'll be competing with a fuckton of copycat groups this Xmas.
-Not my favourite Death Metal band, I'd rather back a group like Bloodbath.
Who even likes that trashy emo shite?
oho mr 23 i presume
i almost took you seriously too
Who cares about those charts? They're rigged up by the marketing machine anyways.
I Cum Blood is a musical masterpeice
Fuck Cannibal Corpse, it should be Bloodbath.
Queens of the Stone age. - Millionaire
Should try and get a Mayhem tune to number one, preferably something from Dawn of The Black Hearts.
Their lyrics are very insightful. I believe the song "Rancid Amputation" is a comment on socio-economic divide in East African society, and the inhumane treatment of Elephants, particularly in the Lake Turkana region.
