Guy grabs $75,000 from Walmart by pretending to be an armored truck employee
BRISTOW, Okla. — Police said a man walked out of a Walmart with more than $75,000 after pretending to be a Loomis armored truck employee.
The man went into the store at 10:38 a.m. and told employees he was there to pick up the deposit. He was given the money and walked out.
Bahaha
Why didn't they bother to check him out? Surely that would have made the whole thing unravel?
What, no identification process or anything?
Did he have some sort of fake badge/ID or did the employees just hand it over no questions asked?
This reinforces to me that the day shift is really that retarded.

routine is a bitch

because said armor companies actually fine the store if they dont allow them to collect the deposit quickly enough.
Honestly people who get away with this shit that should have never happened shouldn't be punished, punish the employees who let it happen.
O.k maybe not just let the guy go for doing the crime, but I mean put more attention to the employees for not doing their job and letting this happen. This could've easily been avoided if they did their job and I mean you work at walmart how hard can it be to check Identification when someone just comes in off the street to collect 75 thousand dollars?

ill remember that when i just break into a house and steal someone's shit because their front door was unlocked. Idiots should have locked it if they didn't want me to steal.

Still you don't just skip checking someones credentials just because they could fine you that isn't as bad as taking a 75k hit.

Or we could punish them both, the criminal for being scum and the employees for being dumb.

Walmart already treats employees like shit, come on now

Completely different if we are using the burglarizing a home then it would be like going inside someones home and asking for their stuff, this guy could've easily been shut down and most likely laughed and and would have left the store embarrassed if the employees would've done their job and not just hand 75k to someone who says they are there to collect it.
why blame the employees, if youre working and a guy in uniform comes in asking for the deposit, you're not going to run outside to check to see if he has an armored car, or run a background check on his ID.
Considering this already happened to our company at a different store with an ex armored car employee, its not surprising. Especially when they come every single day.

Except the dude was in the uniform of their armored truck company. No one would know other than looking for the armored car, which would make them leave the store to look. You're acting like he just walked in with jeans and a tube top asking for the money.
At least he was a little more creative. But only by a smidge.
First, Walmart, next, the Union Depository!

they usually do, in the form of being fired
Hah, actually have their whole uniform save for one detail, from a previous job. Could probably pull this off, as well.
Still, though, if the guy was in plainclothes or not in uniform, then it's really stupid they let him go.

See Loomis in the UK specifically say you should always phone them up if you're unsure if the guy making the pickup is actually them. Plus, the depo always phones up before hand to let us know, and they have to scan in before they can make the pickup. So either Loomis in the US is more lax, or the people in the store really are idiots.
trailer park boys ...
goddamn, the image of him walking out; judging by the timestamp on the pic and the time from the article that means he was in and out in 11 minutes

Did a drunk man in a bathrobe try to stop him by any chance

Only 480p? Damn.
Something tells me this guy must have been employed by a security firm or has relatives in the sector.
Why? Well, to pull this confidence trick, you HAVE to know which words are used and how to behave/specific attitude.
Its not like you can stroll in and say:
"Hi, I'm from loomis. Gib me monies pliz"
and call it a day.
It's so overt its covert
I can see the laugh on his face ... I swear , the zoom reveals it

I see this done in the local Co-op for the cash machine sometimes (probably has £50,000 or some such amount in it). It's impossible to be comfortable when a guy in an EOD suit and three of his armed buddies are walking around the store

Something I've noticed in life, if you act like you know what you're doing A LOT of people believe it. If you act like an armored truck guard then that's what many people will think you are.
edit: missing word- critical fail
Not surprising at all, really. Our local Walmart had a few TV's stolen by people dressing up in the Walmart "uniform" (dark blue shirt with khakis) walking into the back room, loading the TV's onto a cart and walking out the front door with them, alarms buzzing and all, loading them into the back of a pickup, and driving off.
If you look the part and act like you belong, people aren't going to question you. (Though they were eventually caught).

I know what you meant by this, but I can't stop imagining the guy pretending to be a truck. "Vroom, vroom!"
