A 2-year-old boy suffered life-threatening injuries after an intruder entered a northwest Rochester apartment early Thursday, according to police. The child, who was stabbed in the abdomen at around 6 a.m. in the 10 block of 10th Street Northwest, was injured during an incident in which an intruder also stabbed a 26-year-old man in the upper torso, according to Capt. Brian Winters. Police have detained a 23-year-old suspect, who was also taken to Saint Marys Hospital with injuries sustained during his apprehension by a police dog, and apparent knife wounds sustained during the assault. A more detailed description of the event emerged Thursday afternoon as the Rochester Police Department continued its investigation. According to Winters: A 23-year-old woman woke shortly before 6:05 a.m. to a noise in her apartment. When she went to investigate, she saw an intruder armed with a knife in the bedroom where two children, ages 2 and 4, had been sleeping. The woman's yells summoned two men at the residence, leading to a struggle between the suspect and the two men — a 26-year-old and a 23-year-old. The suspect, who had a previous domestic relationship with the woman in the house but is not the biological father of the children, stabbed the 26-year-old man. The 23-year-old also received minor wounds that did not require medical attention. Sometime during the struggle, the woman picked up the 2-year-old child and realized he had suffered a serious knife wound. The suspect jumped from the second-story window before police arrived, and fled the scene on foot. Officers arrived and set up a perimeter of the area, also deploying a police dog, which tracked the suspect to a garage about five blocks from the scene. The arrest happened about an hour after the initial call to police. Officers noted apparent knife wounds on the suspect from the altercation in the apartment. The suspect was not an invited guest at the residence, and his method of entry remains under investigation, Winters said. Several knives and "blood evidence" were recovered at the scene, he added. The 26-year-old man and the 2-year-old boy were transported to Saint Marys Hospital, where they underwent surgery. Both remain hospitalized for post-surgical treatment and care, Winters said Thursday afternoon. The suspect was transported from Saint Marys Hospital to the Olmsted County Adult Detention Center at around 4 p.m., Winters said. The stabbing victims haven't been identified by police. The Post-Bulletin generally does not name suspects until they have been charged. Chaotic scene in neighborhood Neighbors described a chaotic scene as police responded to the stabbings Thursday morning. "I have never seen so many police," said Delores Vanderburg, who lives two doors down from the house in the 10 block of 10th Street Northwest. Vanderburg said that the people living in the apartment "seemed to be nice renters" and that things have been quiet in the neighborhood. Vanderburg and other neighbors said they didn't hear anything Thursday morning until police arrived on the scene. A woman who didn't want to be identified said another neighbor had heard a loud bang before police arrived. Another stabbing reported Another stabbing occurred Wednesday evening and involved two brothers who live together in the 600 block of Sixth Avenue Northwest. About 5:15 p.m., police arrested a 39-year-old man who allegedly attacked his 37-year-old brother with a knife during an argument. The men were arguing when the older brother allegedly grabbed a butcher knife and attacked his brother. The victim was taken to Saint Marys Hospital with multiple stab wounds to his back. As of Thursday morning, he was in satisfactory condition, Winters said.
http://www.postbulletin.com/news/stories/display.php?id=1488634
why a two year old? He was two. Two
he was a serious threat to the intruder
Be right back....I'm going to bang my head against a wall till I'm unconscious. I can't understand WHY one would do this. Reminds me of a program I saw today about some guy drowning a 8 year old girl just cause she saw him doing meth. Seriously world....WHAT THE FUCK?
Wh-w-w-w-w-why a two year old? He was two. Two
Possibly this was done out of an act of jealousy, as the assailant was a "former domestic partner" but was not the father of her children.
Jesus Fuck! what is wrong with people.
I don't want to live on this planet anymore.
The fuck, who in their right mind would stab a 2 year old.
It was obviously self-defense.
So...Reasonable
"oh shit that little fuck is probably gonna tell mom GOTTA STAB IT" what the fuck 1,111 post relates to my name too
maybe he saw 'Elf' before he went out that night and was overly paranoid of violent midgets.
1,111 post relates to my name too
try to keep it at that
This just boggles my mind. The kid was two years old. Just honestly what the fuck!?
guess he can have fun spending the majority of his life in jail from now on
He's not going to last long in prison.
I don't want to live on this planet anymore.
I'm sure their are far more worse places other than our planet.
What has this world come to?
I read the title as "two year old stabs intruder" This is much more sad than I thought it would be
I'm sure their are far more worse places other than our planet.
but there sure as hell ain't far worse people.
I don't want to live on this planet anymore.
Because someone who no one supports, and is obviously mentally distressed did something terrible?
try to keep it at that
soleedus baby why so hostile<3
The kid had a bigger dick than the intruder. Got jealous.
guess he can have fun spending the majority of his life in jail from now on
He won't last long

I am not defending him here, but what people often forget is that murders like this aren't (as TV would have you believe) artisian smartly-planned premeditated murders, they're done by people in a sudden rage and fury, and often they simply don't know what the fuck to do afterward, as they reach the moment of clarity only afterward.

Of course, that's not to say that there's a reason or even justification for this, it's just that it's rarely you get someone who plans this kind of shit, and really deep down they're normal people who have snapped into a fit of vengance, and at the end of it, truly regret what they've done. [editline]3rd March 2012[/editline]
GAH A FUCKING TWO YEAR OLD IM SO ANGRY I BETTER STAB IT
Have you ever randomly flung something across the room in a rage? Yeah, it's like that. Most murderers are (quite often pathetic) normal people who have just suddenly snapped, and at the end of it don't have a clue what they've done or what to do next.
