Picture:Kym Smith [release]TELSTRA chief executive David Thodey has warned the telecommunications giant may withdraw support for its national broadband network deal with the Federal Government if it can't resolve a disagreement with the competition watchdog. Speaking at a shareholder meeting in Perth, Mr Thodey talked up the benefits of the $11 billion deal, but said Telstra may still withdraw its support if it can’t win Australian Competition and Consumer Commission approval for its structural separation plans. His comments were sparked by the company’s latest dispute with the ACCC, which told Telstra last month it was unhappy with its plans to split off its retail and wholesale arms. The regulator said it is unlikely to accept Telstra's plan in its current form because it doesn’t yet meet "legislative requirements". The ACCC is also concerned about the transparency of prices and terms of the services Telstra will offer its competitors, relative to those it provides to its own retail businesses. thanks telsta i really do like my 50 kb/sec internet
snip lots of whining
How about changing to a different ISP, or not being a poor cunt and finding a better plan? I'm on TPG and get a 500GB allowance per month, and my download speeds typically reach 800kbps. You should be able to get the same or similar (considering I don't even live in a metropolitan area).
I was on iPrimus for a while, ADSL2+, but got less than 1.5mb/s most of the time. Swapped to Optus Cable, 80mb/s connection. Fucking awesome.
I'm on Optus, get 500GB per month and have a max speed of 2.2 megabytes/sec. Wouldn't recommend Optus though - unless you like horrifying international speeds at peak hours...

It sounds like Australia would be a good place for google to test their ISP service.
It sounds like Australia would be a good place for google to test their ISP service.
Been saying that ever since I first heard about it
antdawg backpedeling like a child rofl
In other words, getting out of the basement and finding a job. Some areas it is possible to get ADSL2 for around $50 a month, and that would simply be 4 hours of work even part time at a place such as a supermarket.
My ADSL sync speeds are about 3000 kbps. Nothing faster available.
thanks telsta i really do like my 50 kb/sec internet
Yeah I can't get any faster in my area either :(
Antdawg lives with his mum "Stop being poor cunts, mum i need this new internet plan for my vidya games"
It's the song about the old CEO though. Can apply to this i suppose?
I can sometime get 1MBps...if my connection feels like doing a third of what it's supposed to.
I'd be more chill about this if it wasn't such a stupid waste of money and had more realistic goals. Coming from a country town 90% (percentage may be pulled straight from arse with a small sample size) do not give a fuck about the NBN. The adoption rates seem to reflect this from what I hear. "Every home" sounds real good on paper, fucking ludicrous in practice. How come Nasa plans to send a mission to mars on a similar budget... really?
because 50 dollars doesn't have an impact on your bills or your food budget AT ALL
Relative to rent here, $50 isn't that significant. It was opt-in in Brunswick and that was absolutely fucked. Well, those NASA costs will blowout like all their other programs so that's not the best comparison.
Antdawg quit being a cunt [editline]15th September 2011[/editline] ya cunt
I just left TPG awhile ago since they have been screwing us over with constant dropping and low speeds. Going with optus Cable premium speed next week.
