A Portland police patrol car carrying two crew members from the television show "Cops" collided with another car Tuesday night, police said. A Subaru Outback traveling in the opposite direction drifted into the lane of the patrol car and hit the officer's car head-on, said Detective Mary Wheat of the Portland Police Bureau. The Subaru rolled over onto its top. Officer Jeffrey Ruppel and the Subaru driver, 63-year-old Robert King, were taken to local hospitals, Wheat said. The two TV crew members, whose names haven't been released, were also taken to the hospital. Wheat said alcohol likely factored in the wreck, which occurred at Southeast 136th Avenue and Stark Street at about 9 p.m. Police said Ruppel was on routine patrol and not responding to a report of a crime. Ruppel and one of the "Cops" passengers were released from the hospital Wednesday, but the other passenger is still in the hospital with serious head injuries. Wheat said King also remains hospitalized. King has not yet been charged or cited, Wheat said. The investigation is ongoing. Iesha Ash, who lives in the area, witnessed the aftermath of the crash. "It's very bad. If you get on the other side, the cop car is all smashed up," said Ash, who said she frequently sees crashes on Stark Street. A major crash team from the Portland Police Bureau is still investigating the collision. About nine blocks of Stark Street were shut down Tuesday night for the investigation. "Cops" has been filming episodes in Portland for the past six weeks.
http://www.kptv.com/entertainment/21155932/detail.html
god look at all the oily robot blood
If the film survives, that's one hell of a shot.
what a stark accident
Gonna be an amazing episode, assuming the camera isn't ruined.
Subaru Outbacks are awesome
The car doesn't show serious damage so it would appear the camera survived.
My favorite show on earth just got a little bit better.
I can imagine that episode, it'll be good for the network's ratings that's for sure.
I jizzed in my pants This is awesome, by the way, nice title :v:.
I gave you a funny purely for the title of the thread and making me read that in a singing tone in my head. Thread music:
I appreciate the work that was put into the thread title
Cops is a horrible show. G4 destroyed TechTV just so they could show Cops and Cheaters 24/7.
traffic cone monster
Subaru Outbacks are awesome
5 star crash rating
Cops is a horrible show. G4 destroyed TechTV just so they could show Cops and Cheaters 24/7.
I liked G4TV before the merger, like, back in 2002.
I liked G4TV before the merger, like, back in 2002.
Hell, so did I. It was even good early on during the merge. But it slowly started to suck more and more and just became Spike 2.0 I miss TechTV and the original G4.
Cops is a horrible show. G4 destroyed TechTV just so they could show Cops and Cheaters 24/7.
May she rest in peace. I'm just glad I got to go to a live taping of the screen savers before they shut down. :)
Can't wait to see this on the air!
If the film survives, that's one hell of a shot.
Indeed it will.
Subaru Outbacks are awesome
I like how they put the wheels on the top. Innovative features there.
I doubt they will air the crash footage even though everyone would love it And for some reason at first glance I thought all the oil/liquid on the ground was blood...then I realized how ridiculous that amount of blood would be
Cops is a horrible show. G4 destroyed TechTV just so they could show Cops and Cheaters 24/7.
I only watch G4 for X-Play, and even that's getting worse.
The car doesn't show serious damage so it would appear the camera survived.
What is that, a fucking joke? The entire front end is smashed in. It looks like it slammed head on into a wall going 60 MPH.
if they're filming new episodes why do they only show the ten year old ones?

I honestly never expected something like this too happen, honestly. Because I watch cops a lot and its rare that accidents happen like that on television - then again they'd never show it on tv. But then AGAIN you never hear news like this either.
Guys, video film is very hard to break when it's inside a camera. I bet it survived. The camera though...
i want to see that episode "Well y'know not much goes on around here. Being a cop is an easy-" BOOM CRASH ROLL
Ironic how a drunk driver ran right into a cop car.
This thread is making me all sweaty
