HONOLULU (Associated Press) -- A Hawaii-based soldier who says he swallowed needles that were hidden in a Burger King hamburger is suing the fast food chain. Army Staff Sgt. Clark Bartholomew filed the federal lawsuit in Honolulu this week. He says he bought a Triple Stacker burger at a Schofield Barracks Burger King in December and took it home to eat. Bartholomew claims one needle pierced his tongue and he was hospitalized for six days after another needle was found in his small intestine. A manager at the Burger King on Kolekole (KOH'-le-KOH'-le) Avenue declined to comment Friday, and a spokesman for Burger King Corp. said he couldn't immediately comment. Ouch.
Must have taken huge bites and not chewed the food then.
i guess the needle wasn't in the haystack after all.
How did he manage to swallow one of them? I have no explanation.
good thing he did not complain or he might of gotten beat with a metal rod like at mcdonalds
Would've been a huge pain in the ass if they didn't find the one in small intestine so soon.
oh my god, horrible. How does this kind of thing get into food?
WTF. Things like that shouldn't be able to pass from the stomach to the small intestine...
How did he even swallow it easily, oh God.
Terrible, but out of genuine curiosity, why not investigate the staff on-shift during his purchase instead of suing an entire corporation?
Terrible, but out of genuine curiosity, why not investigate the staff on-shift during his purchase instead of suing an entire corporation?
because it's less profitable and still will likely get the entire staff fired
How did he manage to swallow one of them? I have no explanation.
He is a soldier, he has learned to eat absurdly fast.
How did he even swallow it easily, oh God.
Your body is stronger than you'd think.
Terrible, but out of genuine curiosity, why not investigate the staff on-shift during his purchase instead of suing an entire corporation?
What the hell are you talking about? How is he going to investigate these people? He sues the organization that is legally responsible. That's how the law works.
You would have thought someone would have given those employees a pointer in food safety.
You would have thought someone would have given those employees a pointer in food safety.
It's probable that it occurred at the manufacturing plant. It's not like they make the burgers at the store.
How did he even swallow it easily, oh God.
Maybe they were small, they never said how big they were.
How does that... What is a needle even doing in a burger? Did the cow (more likely a racoon, actually) eat the needle and that's how it got in? Why is there a needle in this man's burger?
at least he is getting straight to the point
he was arguing with the frycook and asked what his point was
WTF. Things like that shouldn't be able to pass from the stomach to the small intestine...
Things like this shouldn't be able to pass inspection from the factory to the store.
It was probably one the hamburgers that they take pictures of to advertise the food. I know those always have needles in them to hold all of the ingredients together. How they could have mistakes one of those for a real burger, I don't know.

So these weren't syringe-type needles, but like sewing-type needles, right? I hope this guy gets a really fucking good pay from this case. BK can't let shit like this fly.
Terrible, but out of genuine curiosity, why not investigate the staff on-shift during his purchase instead of suing an entire corporation?
Eh, I could see why he sued. He could have easily died from this since one of the needles made it half way through his digestive track, and only when you force a corporation to pay out a huge sum of money, will they actually do anything to further prevent it For instance, if I was nearly killed in a T-Bone car wreck because some guy ran the red light at 100 mph and hit me while being chased by the cops. I'd want to know why the pursuit was initiated. If it was over a speeding ticket, I'd fucking sue. If the guy was wanted in a murder, then damn shit happens. It isn't the officer's fault, per say, but high speed pursuits over trivial reasons, especially when there's a lot of traffic, should be a thing of the past, and with most departments in the USA, they don't do anything unless something pretty major happens first to show them why they should, IE, Switching to Automatics from revolvers but only after an officer was killed
Don't see how could anyone could lose this case, you're not meant to be looking for needles when you're eating a hamburger as it ain't exactly fish, it's processed, it don't have any bones and I'm pretty certain the guy has eaten in Burger King before and knows what he's ordering.
good thing he pointed it out in time
If he didn't notice them until one got his tongue, they were probably pretty small. Probably the needles that go to sewing machines.
If he didn't notice them until one got his tongue, they were probably pretty small. Probably the needles that go to sewing machines.
still dangerous and not a typical ingredient in a burger
