From Wikipedia:
PhoneShop is a British sitcom first broadcast on Channel 4 as a television pilot on 13 November 2009, as part of the channel's Comedy Showcase season of comedy pilots. This was followed by a six-episode series on E4 that started on 7 October 2010. It is set in a mobile phone shop, filmed in Sutton, London and follows a graduate called Christopher (played by Tom Bennett) during a one-day trial and his subsequent employment. PhoneShop is created and written by Phil Bowker, comedy editor at the production company behind the show, TalkBack Thames. It was script edited by Ricky Gervais. The programme had been commissioned a full series on digital channel E4 before the pilot was broadcast.
I figured from the last thread that everyone hates PhoneShop. Well, there's a new series starting today (10th November) at 10pm on E4 if anyone wants to watch it. Nice preview video from the new series below if anyone's interested. http://www.e4.com/video/UP7poRhFeArilQtxJHmEI/play.e4 I myself find it quite funny, it seems most of facepunch don't feel the same way. You'll have to watch it to find out. :v:
This series was terribly written and a horrible attempt at getting "down with the kids". Even the premise is painfully unfunny, What's funny about a phone shop? [editline]10th November 2011[/editline] It's mainly unfunny because of how derivative and trying-hard-to-be-a-success it is, It's like that Mongrels, It was an attempt at creating a british Family Guy, And it fell flat on its arse. British comedy is often funny because of how subtle and satirical(Or otherwise batshit insane it is), Whereas this is just dumbed-down tripe.
I hated the first series.
"Hurr hurr dubstep hurr hurr urban slang hurr hurr" - A typical episode of PhoneShop.
