[release][b]A homophobic thug who butchered a gay man and maimed his partner was last night facing 30 years in jail.
David Kilcullen, 46, burst into the home Gerry Edwards, 59, shared with Chris Bevan, 57.
He forced the pair, who he thought of as "two faggots", to the floor. And he repeatedly stabbed them with such force his knife bent and its handle shattered.
Gerry was killed in the unprovoked attack but Chris - covered in blood with both lungs punctured and part of an ear sliced off - managed to flee to raise the alarm.
He then "died" for 12 minutes until a quick-thinking paramedic sliced open his chest and massaged his heart until it started beating again.
Kilcullen, a neighbour who tried to befriend Gerry so he could rob him, was convicted of murder and attempted murder at the Old Bailey yesterday. He will be sentenced today and is expected to be given a 30-year stretch.
The alcoholic scaffolder, of Bromley, South East London, has a long history of violent attacks. And he carried out the killing two years after he was released early from a four-year sentence for stabbing an ex-girlfriend and forcing her to swallow a necklace.
Grieving health worker Chris, who now lives in a hospital, wept as he told The Sun: "I was determined he wouldn't kill me, too. I had to come back to life so Gerry would get justice one day.
"He wanted us both dead that night because then no one could say what happened. He's a monster who should never be released."[/release][/b]
