Well.. When I try open steam, the updating steam pops up and after about 5 seconds a message box pops up saying, ERROR: steam.exe (main exception) To run steam, you must first be connected to the internet
I'm clearly connected to the internet.
Any solutions or ideas are greatly appreciated.

delete everything in the steam folder except steam.exe and steamapps

All I get in my steam folder:
1. bin
2. public
3. client registry.blob
4. steam.exe
5. steam.ico
6. steam_install_agreement
7. support
try renameing client registry.blob to client registryold.blob. I did it for some problem i hade i long time ago dont remeber what it was. But it fixed it.

Well i guess i had some other problem. Try cheking their support site they have alot off ways to fix things. Other wise ask their support
