Speaking on The Q&A Podcast with Jeff Goldsmith (via The Playlist), Miller went one further and confirmed that the Fury Road follow-up is titled Mad Max: The Wasteland: "We’ve got one screenplay and a novella. It happened because with the delays [on Fury Road] and writing all the backstories, they just expanded." Indeed Miller seems keen on continuing this franchise, but that will depend on a couple of factors. First of all is box office, seeing as how Miller’s way of making these movies (ie. the way that ends in a masterpiece) isn’t cheap. For an R-rated movie Fury Road is doing fine and should have legs, but we’ll have to see how it continues over the next few weeks. But hey, if Pacific Rim’s box office was enough to warrant a sequel, Fury Road shouldn’t have too much of a problem.
[Source: Collider.com]
fury road being my first max movie i only have one response. i want more. i am glad there is more.
Not against this at all, keep it coming
I hope Miller takes as much time with this as he did with Fury Road and it isn't rushed out because as long as it's not it'll be fantastic.
Tom Hardy signed on for a possible 4 additional movies, and Miller said that he has two stories after Fury Road ready to be made.
I paid to see this movie. Do your part and do the same, don't be like my friends who think they'll have the same amount of fun watching a bluray rip.
It was a wonderful movie but I'm afraid lightning might not strike twice in this instance. But who knows, if he can come back to a series he's not touched in years especially at his age and end up with possibly the best action in nearly a decade then maybe he can do anything.
Let's hope Max gets more screentime this time
Let's hope Max gets more screentime this time
Max isn't the important character in these movies, he's just our access into this universe.
Have youheard? Fargo was about to make a Mad Max RPG. DAMN, being hooked to Wasteland 2 (if you havent played it and you love mad max, give it a try), I cant possibly imagine what that would. Have been!
Let's hope Max gets more screentime this time
from what i seen from mad max fans, Max is ment to be a vehicle for the audience to showcase the bigger story.
Max isn't the important character in these movies, he's just our access into this universe.
Yeah but he wasn't really that likable. I think they tried to make him mysterious but they just made him look really stupid. He barely talked, he was just kind of there the whole movie. *takes out map* *points to spot on map* "we go... me name max... zug zug"
from what i seen from mad max fans, Max is ment to be a vehicle for the audience to showcase the bigger story.
If that's true then I don't know
Let's hope Max gets more screentime this time
this isnt how mad max movies work [editline]18th May 2015[/editline]
If that's true then I don't know, maybe I'm wrong
give the old ones a look at some point, he has about the same number of lines Wii60 pretty much hit the nail on the head with the general formula of the movies (except Thunderdome which was kinda bleh)
Yeah but he wasn't really that likable. I think they tried to make him mysterious but they just made him look really stupid. After spending most of his time in isolation trying to survive, he hasn't had a lot of social interaction since he's really just out there for himself now. I thought Hardy did a good job with his non-verbal communication

I haven't seen Fury Road yet but going by what you've described Max himself seems pretty much unchanged in terms of personality.
Max isn't the important character in these movies, he's just our access into this universe.
The first Mad Max was all about Max and how he becomes mad. The second movie would have ended with the town people getting molested and killed if it were not for Max. The third movie is again all about him trying to get back his stuff but ending up fighting a giant baby with his dwarf daddy, getting sent into the desert left dying but being rescued by a tribe of kids, ending up killing the powerplant of Barter Town and getting left behind yet again after the kids escape with gyrocopter guy to the ruins of Sidney. How is he not important if all the movies stories are based around him? Cop tries to do his job while society crumbles and gets madder and madder as he loses more and more of his loved ones
The whole first movie is his backstory? Cop tries to do his job while society crumbles and gets madder and madder as he loses more and more of his loved ones
unexplained in this movie I meant
I hope Miller takes as much time with this as he did with Fury Road and it isn't rushed out because as long as it's not it'll be fantastic.
I feel like the development hell it was in might have been a positive thing. Years to tune everything to perfection before filming. And then 2 years of post-production is certainly not bad.
I'm completely fine with this
I hope Miller takes as much time with this as he did with Fury Road and it isn't rushed out because as long as it's not it'll be fantastic.
He'll be dead in another 30 years. Fury Road took 30 years.
what a lovely day
I don't mind that he's a shared protagonist in Fury Road because 1-3 explored his character, and his arc well enough.
Eventually you run out of ways to put the same character through the same stuff and have it still be interesting. A fresh perspective through a new protagonist can make a world that's been explored many times already seem brand new.
Going to see Fury Road the day after tomorrow. I am hype.
I really enjoyed the cinematography of the new Mad Max movie, only the forced feminist plot points were annoying. I would absolutely watch the sequel tho :)
I really enjoyed the cinematography of the new Mad Max movie, only the forced feminist plot points were annoying. I would absolutely watch the sequel tho :)
there really wasn't a forced feminist plot its more like a slaves running away to be free story.
i really enjoyed the movie. that little ghetto amtank the bullet farmer used was awesome. that and the doof warrior.
I really enjoyed the cinematography of the new Mad Max movie, only the forced feminist plot points were annoying. I would absolutely watch the sequel tho :)
Forced feminist plots. Yeah I'm not even going to go into how wrong you are.
only the forced feminist plot points were annoying.
Okay before I go further I'm gonna level with you, I kind of know where you're coming from. I saw someone talking about the plot synopsis of the movie, made it sound like Immortan Joe was trying to rebuild society and they just didn't want to cooperate. That's not the case at all, there aren't any forced feminist plot points, the women were running away from Immortan because they were basically his concubines and they were sick of that life. Also Furiosa being on level grounds and getting treated action wise pretty much the same as a male action hero was the tightest shit and you're wrong if you think otherwise.
