Hi, My story goes that i have been having a time keeping saving any money, i only save 130 euros after i paid my bills and from smoking another 80 euros goes off and then another 30 euros for going out every month. Currently if been thinking on if i should stop smoking and save that money for my car license because i really want to just save some money and finally get going on getting my car license. With how things are going now instead of adding money on my bank it goes the other way meaning the money i already saved is slowly becoming less and less :( Do you guys have some tips or opinions on what the best course of should be? Lately, before you are wondering ''Search work'' ill say i have been trying for 7 months now and still nobody want me.
Jumping off a 20 story building works well most of the time. (User was banned for this post ("Not helpful" - Craptasket))
Smoke tobacco in a bong, the hit's so fat you won't want a cigarette for another few hours or so, and you only use a tiny bit of tobacco. i'm being serious, my friend's trying to quit, and whenever he wants a cig real bad he just loads a baccy bong.
Hi, Do you guys have some tips or opinions on what the best course of should be?
Quitting is always a good solution. Just do it. You can do it. You can even quit like at a brick wall if you want to. And it's probably not going to be fun. It requires self-discipline and determination. But those are not "features" that some people have and some do not. They are things that you can learn. It's just a matter of making a decision and keeping it. If you say "I have no self-discipline" you've just only decided not to try as hard as you could. You can use things like Nicorette, but remember that you're just extending your addiction with another nicotine product and you're supposed to reduce your daily nicotine intake. Many people get addicted to those things too. What kind of jobs have you applied to?

Many people get addicted to those things too. I'm currently 19 years old and i had been working for 3 years in a supermarket as a job besides school. After 3 years my contract ended and i became to old (they want young people). Since then i have been focusing on school and trying to find other work, sadly i haven't had a place that wanted to accept me, mainly because of inexperience in their eyes, age or something that didn't fit me. I have been walking in supermarkets, electronic stores you call it. Do you have any job experience or education? After 3 years my contract ended and since then i have been searching for another place to work and earn some money. Sadly everyone that i have been visiting state that i'm to old or they don't have anything for my experience. On school i'm learning in the ICT part, working with computers etc :)
Firstly keep on searching for work. Just any job is better then no job. Secondly if you wanna quit do it straight and permanently. It doesn't help lowering the amount you smoke. Just punch yourself through this

But I guess it's whatever you prefer, as long as it works. and for this general thread; how would I stop someone from trying to smoke that's been doing it for almost all their life, and they don't want to quit? :(
Stop smoking, and go to the sauna 3 days straight. You'll sweat out all the nicotine and it'll help reduce the need for a cig
Smoke joint instead or electric cig
I'm not a smoker, so I don't have much to offer personally, but several of my friends and family members have been able to quit almost cold turkey by switching to vaporizers/electronic cigarettes. They are loads cheaper in the long run, don't stain your teeth or make you smell bad, are much less harsh, on your throat and lungs (just soothing water vapor!), and the flavor shots are delicious and smell great. Plus, no second hand smoke, etc, etc. I wish all smokers would switch the vaporizers!
My personal tip for quitting smoking: Cold turkey is the best way to do it. If you go slowly, it doesn't work. I woke up one day with two cigarettes in my pack left. Never bought them since.
tape your mouth shut
Cold turkey it. Just lowering the amount doesn't really do much. You also might want to focus on a hobby to distract yourself from it.
What do you guys exactly mean with ''Cold turkey''? haven't heard of that before.
What do you guys exactly mean with ''Cold turkey''? haven't heard of that before.
It means to suddenly stop entirely. It's what I did, and it was tough for a few weeks. Was made much easier by my e-cig
cold turkey plus intense exercise
Cold turkey or just use an e-cig. I have an e-cig myself and I definitely prefer it over a cigarette and the only worry is nicotine addiction but you can ween yourself off by going lower in nicotine levels on cartidges/liquid. It would definitely be much healthier since there is no real smoke or carcinogens that will kill you faster.
go cold turkey, use an e-cig if you need to, and then go to a sauna every day for a few days
I made a thread not long ago about me quitting. So far so good. Just went straight into cold turkey mode. Got rid of all my cigs and tobacco related products. First 3 or 4 days were a bit shit, and started getting some bad cravings especially when I went out on the piss. Best idea is, get rid of the cigs before you do it, "Out of sight, out of mind" and then you can just stop yourself from buying more.
Number one tip: Don't smoke in the first place.

Smoke the pack you still have, tell yourself it's your last pack every time you take out a cigarette and then just don't buy any more packs. Seriously, sounds hard. Totally isn't. [editline]20th March 2014[/editline]
What do you guys exactly mean with ''Cold turkey''? haven't heard of that before.
Stop suddenly.
If you can make a deal with your parents, you could like give them 80 euro after payday (which they will save for you, until like a year/half a year has passed), so you are only left with the 30 euro. So you have to choose between going out with friend and having fun, or smoking. It's good in either case, because you will only be smoking up 30 euro instead of 80.
I quit by vaping for a while, that got my cravings down as I slowly toned down the nicotine intake. It worked wonders for me. The upfront cost is a little higher but it saves money and health in the long run.
Firstly keep on searching for work. Just any job is better then no job.
I assume that you counted prostitution and drug dealing on that.
I got me an e-cig back at the start of January and it's been super easy to just stop smoking real cigarettes entirely. The juice I have now is 24mg nicotine, after it runs out I'll take the dosage down a notch, then another etc. until I'm at zero nicotine and smoking is suddenly boring. Should be done by the end of the year or so.
Have you tried Nasal Snuff? It's really, really good. One quick little pinch in the nose, you'll be singing until the cows come home. That's the healthiest, cheapest route. It's also really good if you have terrible sinuses. My allergies cause my nose to be stuffed up like mad, but this takes care of it. A good, menthol-y start, and also a crowd favorite, Medicated No. 99. It's seriously the best I've tried. You get a lot for very little. one tin may last you 6 months and it's barely 7-10 dollars for a tin. edit: oh, and before you say "you should do e-cigs", I do. They do absolutely nothing for me. Sure, you're inhaling something, but it's not the same and you end up just wanting a cig more and more. At least, in my case.
when i decided to quit smoking i weened down with e-cigs first. bought 4 disposible ecigs, with 1 lasting about a week each, and by the last one i had no real desire to smoke anymore and just stopped.
Let me give you the best untold advice for stopping smoking. Change your routine! Your body becomes addicted to the same day in-day out routine, just finished eating? Ciggy. Its been an hour? Ciggy. I'm bored? Ciggy. Just change your routine and start doing something to take your mind off it. A new hobby? If you can break 2 weeks, you've over the worst and will already feel much better. Good luck!
I used to smoke cigarettes but I got some cheap vape pen off of dealextreme and within 2 weeks I broke it and was completely done with the stuff. It's a hell of a lot cheaper than patches and you still get the nit fix which is good for the first week, but after that you lose the enjoyment you got from it and you give up. It's the perfect mental breakup from a bad habit.

Your mate will end up addicted to them instead of cigs. if you were trying to quit smack do you think you'd be more likely to succeed just cos you're jabbing the needle in your bellend instead of your arm? If not, more power to him. way I see it though, you don't get rid of addictions by feeding them
