"This is beyond sexist. I don't even know how to comment on it. No woman asks to be raped," the 26-year-old single mother told the Winnipeg Free Press in an exclusive telephone interview Thursday from her rural Manitoba home. "Nobody knows what it was like to be in this position. It's not something I'd ever want to go through again. No woman should have to." Kenneth Rhodes was given a two-year conditional penalty last week which allows him to remain free in the community. The Crown wanted at least three years behind bars, citing numerous case precedents which suggest that is the starting point for a major sexual assault. Queen's Bench Justice Robert Dewar disagreed, saying the victim gave out signs that "sex was in the air" through her suggestive attire and flirtatious conduct on the night of the attack. He called Rhodes a "clumsy Don Juan" who may have misunderstood what the woman wanted when he forced intercourse along a darkened highway outside Thompson, Man., in 2006. "That's bulls—," the victim said Thursday. "I did say no to him. I kept saying no. He knew that I didn't want (sex)."
I didn't know Broseph_ was a judge Update: The Manitoba Government is filing a complaint against the judge.
The Manitoba government is joining in the chorus of complaints about a recent court hearing in which the judge appeared to blame the victim of a sexual assault. Jennifer Howard, the minister responsible for the status of women, announced on Friday that the province will file a complaint with the Canadian Judicial Complaints Council about remarks made in the sentencing hearing of a man convicted of a severe sexual assault.
if he had pirate a game he would get into more shit
If she says no, get off her. In fact, don't have sex with people you just met, it avoids this bullshit entirely.
People have got to learn that "suggestive attire" doesn't mean yes.
"She dressed attractively? She's obviously craving my dick!"

Who exactly are we to say that she actually was consenting and just denies it because she gets off on being a bitch?
Who exactly are we to say that she actually was consenting and just denies it because she gets off on being a bitch?
Why would she do that?
Now I know where to do my raping
Why would she do that?
Spite, embarrassment, whatever. It happens quite a bit.
If he jailbreaked a ps3 he would be in more trouble.
If he edited a video so it looked like he was reading obscene material to schoolchildren he'd be in more trouble.
-snip- Not offensive at all.
People have got to learn that "suggestive attire" doesn't mean yes.
Apparently, it does.
"He called Rhodes a "clumsy Don Juan" who may have misunderstood what the woman wanted when he forced intercourse along a darkened highway outside Thompson" how the fuck is forced intercourse by a highway not rape in every sense of the word? this judge is fucked in the head [editline]26th February 2011[/editline]
Spite, embarrassment, whatever. It happens quite a bit.
no it DOESNT happen quite a bit fucking hell more rapes go UNREPORTED because people are too embarrassed or scared to say anything about it why do you people have to say stupid shit like this?
Who exactly are we to say that she actually was consenting and just denies it because she gets off on being a bitch?
Fight the power man. Fuck rape victims.
Fuck rape victims.
isn't that sort of the point
Fight the power man. Fuck rape victims.
Except it actually happens VERY often.
isn't that sort of the point
Damn, beat me to it
Except it actually happens VERY often.
is that right? thats a pretty bold claim you wanna provide some proof?
Manitoba sucks, Winnipeg sucks in general. I hope I can move away from Winnipeg sooner.
The city doesn't suck because of the judges, it sucks because of the people If you guys would stop stealing cars and stabbing things it'd be a fantastic city
Except it actually happens VERY often.
1 in 6 women will be raped in their lifetimes I can't think of a single other widespread crime where people's first thought is "the victims must be lying!"
it must be awful not only getting raped, but being called a liar, and then having the fucking judge show leniency because he claims you were sending "mixed signals"
I don't remember where I heard it from, it may have been a freind or an ex coworker, but he had one pre-sexual encounter with some chick; she had invited him over and been giving all the signals, and she just kept deying him from moving to second base. Needless to say it didnt work out that night. The next day he asked what the hell happened, since she invited him over and everything. She said she liked it when guys "get frustrated and use force" :ohdear: I can't imagine how many potential rape charges that could cause. Though, this judge reminds me of Judge Grady from WKTT radio in GTA IV. "Your honor, that bitch is CRAZY" "Yeah.. yeah.. that sounds like the truth alright, court is adjourned."
1 in 6 women will be raped in their lifetimes I can't think of a single other widespread crime where people's first thought is "the victims must be lying!"
are you sure? is that a first world statistic? I can imagine sexual assault but not rape
1 in 6 women will be raped in their lifetimes I can't think of a single other widespread crime where people's first thought is "the victims must be lying!"
"Officer, someone just stole my car!" "You sure you didn't just misplace it?"
"Officer, someone just stole my car!" "You sure you didn't just misplace it?"
ha sure they did, you probably just get off on being a bitch or you lent someone your car and changed your mind! THIS HAPPENS ALL THE TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!
