For those rating late, this is [b]not[/b] the same video that the Noclip documentary used, talking to Mick Gordon regarding Doom's music. This is an hour-long GDC talk (as the thumbnail suggests) that was released less than 24 hours ago.
I almost didn't click on this thread because I didn't think this could possibly be long enough to be educational, glad I was wrong I'm like 5 slides in and this already fantastic. [editline]23rd August 2017[/editline] wow that may have been one of the most inspirational things i've seen in a while, really turned my day round. Thanks for posting this, Tusk! [editline]23rd August 2017[/editline]Holy shit he talked about shephards tones as risers! This guy is a legend.
Mick Gordon is amazing at presentation. It doesn't feel like an hour long talk, and it's full of amazing detail! I hope to hear something about Wolfenstein soundtrack too, at some point. [editline]23rd August 2017[/editline] holy shit the 666 number part is hilarious
This was a blast to watch.
Jesus loves you!
My god that hour went by fast, that was fascinating to hear.
I haven't had the chance to finish this yet but boy is it a great source of inspiration, and some incredible work. I really need to get around to playing DOOM.
I spent a few hours last night playing around with Mick's DOOM instrument concept, except with VST's instead of hardware, I'm amazed at how well it works.
23:40 was a jaw dropper. Just the input of that boring sine wave generated that, it's amazing.

They only now uploaded it to youtube?

GDC has what they refer to as a "Vault", which is basically a delayed release onto YouTube. Regardless, this was never posted here on Facepunch before - a [url=http://www.facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1520784]completely unrelated documentary was posted last year, with the same name, though[/url]; hence why people were blindly rating it late.
Holy hell this was a watch. I'm absolutely in love with the music because it really catches the feeling of hell and the ludicrously hardcore themes the game contains, but I really had no idea it was this complicated to begin with.
