How is this not obvious? Did you really expect Apple to provide [I]free[/I] authoring software yet not require that books made from it be sold in their own ecosystem? It's the only way they can make money off of this. Plus, it's not like you couldn't take the same content and publish it in another form, it's just that they don't want you using iBooks Author to do so.

This appears to cover only the iBook file you make, in [I]theory[/I] you would still own the content and could still publish it yourself. I'd love to see this proven though because if Apple are locking in people who write books that is dumb as hell.
