Lesbian kicked off Southwest Airline flight for kissing her girlfriend

[release]Former The L-Word star Leisha Hailey complained in a stream of Twitter messages yesterday that she and a girlfriend were kicked off a Southwest Airlines flight in a dispute over them kissing on a plane.Hailey, 40, tweeted that a flight attendant had told her that Southwest "was a 'family' airline and kissing was not ok", and that she and her companion were then "escorted off the plane for getting upset about the issue".
"SouthwestAir endorses homophobic employees," she tweeted. "Since when is showing affection towards someone you love illegal? I want to know what Southwest Airlines considers a 'family.'"

She went on to tweet: "Boycott SouthwestAir if you are gay. They don't like us."
Hailey, who starred on Showtime network's The L-Word as Alice, a bisexual magazine writer and radio host, also demanded a public apology.
The airline issued a statement saying initial reports it received about the incident "indicate that we received several passenger complaints characterising the behaviour as excessive".
"Our crew, responsible for the comfort of all customers on board, approached the passengers based solely on behaviour and not gender," the airline said. "The conversation escalated to a level that was better resolved on the ground, as opposed to in flight."
The statement concluded: "We regret any circumstance where a passenger does not have a positive experience on Southwest and we are ready to work directly with the passengers involved to offer our heartfelt apologies for falling short of their expectation."
An airline spokesman declined to comment beyond the prepared statement.
The incident comes a little over three weeks after another celebrity, Green Day rocker Billie Joe Armstrong, complained he was booted from a Southwest flight in Oakland, California, because he was wearing his baggy pants too low.
The L-Word followed the lives and loves of a small, close-knit group of lesbians living in Los Angeles as well as the friends and family members who either support or loath them.

I don't like seeing people kissing in public overall. In the same sense they should be kicking out straight couples kissing then, and fat chance that's going to happen
P.S I don't mean it as in I'm oh so offended by it and I don't think they should be taken off the flight
southwest is literally the worst airline
i don't understand how anybody still wants to fly with them, i'd rather fly Virgin Airways

mmmm I can smell the jealousy dripping from this one.

last time I checked there's lots of people that don't like it, but if you say so
mmmm I can smell the jealousy dripping from this one.
i mean i don't want to see a couple really going at it regardless of if they're straight or not
but if it's just a kiss then what's the big deal, that shit happens in public 24/7
It might have been justified depending on how much kissing was going on. They should upload the security footage for further study.
"OH NO LESBIANS KISSING!!"
I for one don't give a fuck if someone is making out with someone. I mind my own damn business.
I don't understand why they'd object look at her, she's not ugly
I can understand why they told her not to kiss. It seems like she's jumped on the persecution defense, to me. Though if they kicked them out just because they were lesbians, I can understand why she'd be upset.

haha here come the apologists
she was kissing with her lover on an airplane on the family airline where kissing is not allowed (kids maybe), the crew asked them to stop and they got escorted out for being upset about it
if there's someone being homophobic it's the article, being lesbian seemed to have nothing to do with it

Straight couples kiss on planes and in airports all the time, it's extremely common

it's people who think others kissing in public is awkward that make these dumb rules up
kissing should motivate you and not demotivate you to get a girl/boy friend

people who think kissing in public is awkward are idiot prudes who don't need to be pandered to
They're obviously transferring nuclear devices to eachother using their tongues! Get 'em!
So...
Were they kicked off during the flight or before?
Ok I can understand if they were kicked off for full blown making out. But if it was just a little Peck, than its stupid.
Oh no a public display of affection! Better do something before it gets out of hand and they start having sex!

I think it's awkward and I don't and wouldn't make up these rules.
It's their business what they're doing and I don't think they should be kicked off a flight for something so stupid but why exactly do I not have the right to feel awkward about it
Bullshit. They wouldn't even notice if it was a straight couple.
mmmm I can smell the jealousy dripping from this one.
Most people who are actually adults don't care for it

For fuck sakes there's a difference between a kiss and fucking making out.
Most people who are actually adults don't care for it
A lot of adults were raised during a time when anything other than sex in the missionary position was deviant behaviour too

basically, just cheer up

you have the right to feel awkward about it but your first post pretty much blatantly said that southwest is okay for kicking off people for kissing (before your edit)
that's why myself and others jumped on you
Judging by her looks, if I were a passenger sitting beside them, I wouldn't complain.
