BOSTON — Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick has ordered a "file by file review" of every case handled by a state chemist accused of faking test results at a now-closed government lab. Annie Dookhan allegedly skirted protocols and manipulated drug samples at a former Department of Health drug lab where she worked for nine years. The alleged misconduct has threatened to unravel thousands of criminal cases. On Tuesday, David Meier, a former prosecutor appointed by Patrick to sort through the legal mess, said the governor authorized a massive review of Dookhan's cases, estimated to number about 34,000. Meier says his team has focused on about 2,000 defendants who are already in prison or awaiting trial. Now, the focus will shift to Dookhan's remaining cases, mainly defendants who have already completed their sentences.
Source
Oops. Good time to have a case up for review and having anything related to this at all.
Must suck knowing that your fate rested on one person working in a lab, and you were sent to go live in a tiny concrete room just because said person was an asshole.
34,000 cases affected, holy shit
34,000 cases affected, holy shit
sure wouldn't want to be the ones trying to fix the bullshit brought up by that...
you'd think thered be some sort of redundancy for this sort of thing.
you'd think thered be some sort of redundancy for this sort of thing.
You'd think that there would be more than one person working on each case.
You'd think that there would be more to putting a person in jail than a single test
You'd think that there would be more to putting a person in jail than a single test
There is?
You'd think that there would be more than one person working on each case.
Perhaps there were more than one person working on a case. But if your coworker is helping you, and you don't believe they would be dishonest in any way, why believe the results were secretly manipulated by her?
34,000 cases affected, holy shit
Well, its a good time to be a lawyer.
Well, its a good time to be a lawyer.
When has it not been a good time to be a lawyer in this day in age? :v:
This woman is a scumbag and I hope she's given the highest possible prison sentence so she experiences the mental torture of imprisonment she may have inflicted on others.
