Sony really fuck it up
As someone who loves Ghostbusters, when I first saw the Remake, I had to walk out. It was so bad, each time I saw something from the old films that I loved, they would turn it into a punch line, seriously, nearly everything from the old films in the remake, was for a joke/gag. If I wasn't volunteering and had the option to actually go home, I would have just gone home, but I had to watch it so I could keep an eye on the cinema goers and make sure nothing bad happened. The film made me so damn mad. I tried to keep an open mind, I tried to put the whole Controversy behind my mind while watching it, but it didn't help. It wasn't the Movie I thought it would be. I thought it would be one of those films you would watch once, think it was alright, but never watch it again. At least the film did one thing that I appreciate, and that was making me buy the Original films on DVD and the video game from 2009 (Which people, even Dan Aykroyd, consider the third Film) If there was no Controversy, I don't think I would have hated it as much as I do, it still wouldn't be the "Watch once, Never Again" film, but my blood wouldn't boil while thinking of it and wishing Amy Pascal to get fired, even if it meant having future films bomb due to it. Probably would have helped with the jokes involving the old cast and just general stuff about the original films. Instead of feeling betrayal and my Childhood self being punched in the gut, I would just think of them as bad jokes. Is it wrong for me to wish that the upcoming Spiderman films bomb just so Amy Pascal gets fired? Amy fucking ruined the film, was an asshole to the original cast and original Producer, and even more of an asshole to the fanbase.
I'm legitly fucking amazed Amy Pascal is still employed at Sony. After the bullshit she's pulled, you'd think Sony would drop her like a ton of bricks. Maybe they're afraid of stirring up another internet hate mob, only the opposite to the kind they claimed killed Ghostbusters. Oh well, bottom line, the whole Ghostbusters fiasco has seriously tarnished how I look at Sony (at least their movie division) as a company.
Let's be honest, all these reboots are just out for one thing:
The saddest news I got from this is that War Dogs made a loss, I thought it was a notch below Wolf of Wall Street but still really good. Turns out most people found it kinda underwhelming.
