For some people their only exposure to the police are when they racially profiling them, have killed a friend or family member, and don't seem like part of the community they should be policing, often arriving too late or not at all to instances of crime where an officer is dearly sought after.
Not to say this explains anything other than a small minority of these protesters, but I can see where the stigma comes from.

This officer had no fucking grounds to just approach this person with their weapon drawn, demand a search without probably cause and then point a weapon at their head. Three other officers were complicit in this offense, detained him and then the PD tried to trump up bogus charges against him.

One of the most dangerous things a Cop has to do is related to pulling someone over or being in a traffic stop.
