She looks like an angry gorilla when running
Enjoying the game?
Enjoying the game?
It's not me playing it. I stopped following the game after I heard it was an RPG, I've played too many of those this year. Maybe I'll get it later. But that does look like something I would do to entertain myself while playing.
wow and to think people would pre order this game
wow and to think people would pre order this game
that's dev mode I don't think you see that in the actual game I don't have it so I don't know
See video description: Its a development build and hes using an exploit/hack/whatever to go in third person.
remember when dead island was announced like years ago back when it was supposed to be a gritty dark as fuck survival game what happened
remember when dead island was announced like years ago back when it was supposed to be a gritty dark as fuck survival game what happened
Dead-Rising meets Left4Dead with RPG elements, that's what. That's also why I didn't buy it.
looks like something outa spore
Reminds me of Ragmorph in Garry's Mod.

I think it's a pretty good game.
Reminds me of Mirror's Edge's 3rd person
It looks like bethesda just found there new animator.
remember when dead island was announced like years ago back when it was supposed to be a gritty dark as fuck survival game what happened
I don't think they were aiming for that exactly, the first teaser that was released a few months back was a TEASER.
remember when dead island was announced like years ago back when it was supposed to be a gritty dark as fuck survival game what happened
Years ago all there was, was just some video of their damage system or something. It was only months ago that the CGI trailer was out.
I like how the game was in development for over 5 years
None of Techlands games have proper character animations so why would this have?
I like how the game was in development for over 5 years
Duke Nukem? (Well it wasn't that bad but you get the point)
-snip-
Thank you, the amount of ignorant bashing in this thread was getting frustrating. The game has been great to me so far, and I really believe my money was well spent on it.
Seeing as everyone's blindly bashing it for this, here's an explanation. First, this is from the dev version they accidentally released. Now, don't whine about that either, it's an honest mistake and was fixed the same day as it released. In this digital age it's not like they have to recall CDs and reship entirely, it's Steam, it's an insta-downloadable patch, who gives a flying shit in space. Second, there is no third person in this game. This was accessed by a debug command left in the dev version. Third person animations for other characters look fine, however you were never intended to see them for your own character. Third, this is how you see your arms and legs in first person. Rather than cutting up the model into different parts, they simply reuse the third person model but animate the top and bottom halves separately and are not meant to sync up. As you never see your torso, it doesn't matter if it looks like shit and it would be a waste of resources to put time into animating it properly. As for how good the game is, I can see it being pretty boring if all you play is singleplayer, but playing coop with 2 other people was really fun for me. It's pretty much a mix of Dead Rising 2, Far Cry 2, and Left 4 Dead 2. You go do simple quests for people and rescue others, but it's first person and you eventually get into a lot of gun play as well. The world is pretty open for you to explore however you want, and there's minimal loading screens. As weapons get damaged and break from use, a big aspect of the game is finding, repairing, upgrading, and combining different weapons together, as well as finding ammo as it's fairly scarce. It's a nice survival/exploration touch I've never really felt in any other zombie game before. Not a hardcore RPG like an Elder Scrolls game though, very comparable to Dead Rising 2 in that aspect. Maybe even a bit looser as far as the main storyline goes.
ok but what about your shadow
What the fuck is this shit, the character 3rd person animations are bad in a first person game where third person is not ever used? That's an outrage! [editline]8th September 2011[/editline]
It's not me playing it. I stopped following the game after I heard it was an RPG, I've played too many of those this year.
remember when dead island was announced like years ago back when it was supposed to be a gritty dark as fuck survival game what happened
"boohoo my game is not serious and dark enough it sucks!!!!!1111" The game is just fine. If it would be hardcore survival, it would be extremely dull.
What the fuck is this shit, the character 3rd person animations are bad in a first person game where third person is not ever used? That's an outrage! and thats bad? "Oh no, I want to only do one mission and and shoot zombies" It adds depth, having to explore and find things is much more realistic than any zombie game so far, and if you REALLY don't want to do that, you can still quick travel to locations
Sadly the shadows still look like this.
It's not an RPG in the sense of leveling up and grinding, but the item and quest system is just like an RPG.
So you just wanted it to be a incredibly basic FPS?
So you just wanted it to be a incredibly basic FPS?
FYI he never stated that.
