Our GCSE exam papers were just given to us last week, 2nd page in my sketchbook (will upload the first if anyone wants). A4 size, watercolours, don't know how many hours. It's observation work, so the photo I used as a reference is here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/joker1974/3300155155/ If anyone else has done GCSE art, (UK thing) I chose the theme "ceremonies" (for anyone interested, you have a choice of 7, with the last one basically being the "do whatever you want topic", this time it is My World (so anything you could relate to yourself). You produce a sketchbook, that has to cover all the objectives (Observation, Research, Experimentation, Planning) which you have 4 weeks to do, you have to complete 1 or 2 A2 or above size pieces and then finally you get a 10 hour exam over 2 days in which to do a final piece to sum up the project.)
I think it's wonderful. Personally I have never been able to use watercolors, which is annoying since I love the effect. I am from the UK, and I started my GCSE's in September, I would have like to have done art, but the system at my school is stupid and so I couldn't, because I was already doing 3 sciences, IT and Graphic Products, the choice was really Graphics or Art, and I chose graphics because it ties nicely with IT and is more useful in business. Anyway, sorry for my rant, I love the piece, and envy your artistic abilities
Seeing as the light source is above the head, there would be some shadows peeking out under the masquerade mask. Right now it seems as if it isn't even touching the face, and the shine on the mask is not placed very well according to the shadows and the shine on the purple jewel. The lips seem extremely flat, mist want to add some more depth to that and the area above the lips is entirely too flat as well. Also the mouth is always closest to the nose, not the chin, but the nose is waaaay too short anyways.

There are some misalignements here-there(eyes, mouth) but it's quite nice.
