• Japan fallout heading for Britain
RADIOACTIVE particles from the shattered Fukushima power station reached Europe yesterday — and are expected to arrive in Britain today. Tiny samples of nuclear fallout were found in the atmosphere by a monitoring station in Reykjavik, Iceland, after an 8,000-mile journey. But experts stressed the levels were NOT harmful, and were between 1,000 and 10,000 times less dangerous than the fallout from Ukraine's 1986 Chernobyl disaster. Iceland's head emergency planner Sigurdur Emil Palsson said: "We were very surprised that it has been found here." PM David Cameron signed a book of condolence at Japan's London Embassy yesterday. He told ambassador Keiichi Hayashi: "We will do all we can to help you recover. The courage and resilience of everyone in Japan has been inspirational."
Source: http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/3485259/Radioactive-particles-from-Japans-shattered-Fukushima-power-plant-reached-Europe-yesterday-and-are-expected-to-arrive-in-UK-today.html
To ze bunker! But seriously, somebody here will complain about radiation sickness.
And noone gave a single shit that day because the amount they released is said to be harmless
How is this even news, radioactive particles travel with the wind and take a long time to actually disappear. Oh wait, its The Sun.
Once again, 'merica prevails
People in Britain will moan about it anyway because that's what we're best at.
Interesting stuff but now I'm gonna hear some idiot shouting 'OH GOD THE PARTICLES ARE HERE WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE'
It seems a bit silly to release this publicly, I mean if it's harmless why announce that it's arriving in the first place. It's just going to make groups of people panic without reading it.
The comments on this article are funny.
The radioactive materials were detected at a facility related to the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty Organization, a Vienna-based U.N. body for monitoring nuclear tests, it said. Ah, no bias or self-interest from these people then!
I don't think this person knows what a "nuclear test" is.
Interesting stuff but now I'm gonna hear some idiot shouting 'OH GOD THE PARTICLES ARE HERE WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE'
Just like that volcanic ash WAS GOING TO GIVE EVERYONE CANCER. I think The Sun reported that as well. Edit: What the hell has been up with automerge not working lately
Oh, thank god, this explains the third arm I woke up with this morning.
Oh, thank god, this explains the third arm I woke up with this morning.
I wake up with a third limb every morning :smug:
Shitshitshitshitshit
Calm down y'all. It's nothing a bag of RadAway can't fix.
It seems a bit silly to release this publicly, I mean if it's harmless why announce that it's arriving in the first place. It's just going to make groups of people panic without reading it.
It's The Sun, making groups of people panic is their business model.
OP please stop using The Sun as a source, they tend to be unreliable and generally place overemphasis on the article (eg OH DEAR GOD A PARTICLE WE'RE ALL GOING TO DIE AND IT'S ALL (insert politcal party here)'S FAULT) We need a list of "please don't use these sites as sources" or something in the sticky
oh no, radiation levels the same as a single banana are going to kill me help meeeeee
I liked how someone posted an animation of the fallout yesterday, everyone was saying "Thank goodness I live in europe". Now look, haha!

Perhaps they should add a few more, starting with The Sun and the Daily Mail.
Once again, 'merica prevails
What the flying fuck does that have to do with America?
>The Sun NOPE.
Using The Sun as a source is like using FOX News.
My economics teacher said the Fukushima reactors melting down would be devastating and make Japan inhabitable for thousands of years. The fallout according to her would also cause bad fallout throughout the West. I'm in N.Y. She is also said to stopped making her class do a project they were working on, 2 or so months into it. True story. [editline]23rd March 2011[/editline]
oh no, radiation levels the same as a single banana are going to kill me help meeeeee
But think of the nuclear fallout and how it could damage the world! :downs:
Guys...we're meant to have three eyes, right? I don't remember having wings either :saddowns:
What the hell is with people posting articles from the sun lately? They're less factual than the onion

I'm gonna dig a hole now and make it my home. That is all :smug:
Just a note. The fallout from Chernobyl, outside of the area Chernobyl happened in was negligible and caused no health issues. If this is less fallout than Chernobyl, there is literally nothing to be worried about.
Talk about the media over hyping news...
