Fox's Shep Smith: We couldn't find a Republican willing to come on and defend Trump
Fox News host Shepard Smith said Wednesday that the network tried and failed to get a Republican on-air to defend President Trump's controversial comments on violence in Charlottesville, Va., over the weekend
"Our booking team — and they're good — reached out to Republicans of all stripes across the country today," Smith said on his show "Shepard Smith Reporting."
"Let's be honest, Republicans don't often really mind coming on Fox News Channel. We couldn't get anyone to come and defend him here because we thought, in balance, someone should do that," he continued.
"We worked very hard at it throughout the day, and we were unsuccessful. And of those who are condemning the president's condemnable actions, I've not heard any prominent leaders, former presidents, members of the House or the Senate use his name while speaking in generalities," he said.
Smith's comments followed an off-the-rails press conference by Trump on Tuesday, during which he reasserted claims that "both sides" were to blame for violence during a white supremacist rally in Charlottesville on Saturday that ultimately left one dead and at least 19 others injured.
Yikes.
And the best part is, Trump is an obsessive viewer of Fox, so he quite possibly saw that an outright right-wing propaganda channel couldn't find a single person willing to defend his statements.
I'm guessing Fox might be the next recipient of the good old Trump "Fake News!"
Shep Smith keeping it real. bizarre that he's still at Fox considering his reputation compared to the network's general reputation.

Him and Wallace still reside there so Fox can claim they are not biased.

And in Shep Smith's case, it's also so that they can have a gay guy to point to if anyone ever calls them out for being homophobes.
Shep could have just gone to the FOX/CNN Youtube comments

my brain hurts
I'm surprised they didn't hire some random old guy and claim he was the senator from East Virginia.
How the fuck are there people willing to defend Trump's statements on FP but not Fox news?
It's simple: They'd have to show their face to get on Fox News.
How the fuck are there people willing to defend Trump's statements on FP but not Fox news?
Is this opposite day/week?
Because you're anonymous on FP, but on national television, defending the same shit Trump shoveled without his level of protection, no one in their right mind would do it. It'd basically be political suicide.

Because people are fucked up when they are hidden. That, and it seems more like opposite world, considering we got people LITERALLY defending fucking Nazis. At this point, white supremacists(and Neo-Nazis and KKK maybe) are considered fair game to be compared to Nazis according to the creator of Godwin's Law.
So more of opposite world instead of week.

Weird, I seen lots of political suicide on the campaign trail. But it didn't seem to stick. Maybe for Democrats it sticks.

Still relevant.

I wonder if people realize who they are defending. Its really bad when your political circle starts to blend in with literal Nazis.
