If an image is bigger than something like 1000x1000 and it's thumbed, it causes my browser to lag really badly and it sometimes takes up to 5 minutes just to scroll to the bottom of one page.
Could we get a rule saying things like that need to be media tagged instead of thumbed?
And maybe comp could make images large enough in quotes automatically get media tagged instead of getting thumbed.
It's really difficult to browse these forums sometimes :smith:
What browser are you using?
Massive images, specifically panoramas could use media tagging if not just a simple link when posting because it makes my browsers cry as well. 5 minutes is a bit excessive but I like to smoothly browse down a page, large panoramas just cause it to stop. I use Safari and Chrome.
Yup, webkit doesn't like large images resized using html width/height tags.
It's a shame really, it handles image resizing so well with the downsampling.
I will remember this and post all my large images as links the next time.
Images under 1000x1000 when thumbed are fine, anything bigger can get slow.
When on my PC, it's not as bad, but I use chrome.
On my mac (a shitty old one), it takes a really long time and I use either Chrome or Safari.
I never have issues with this in Opera.
an interesting problem, I'll bring this up with comp and maybe grea$emonkey and see if we can't figure out a fix to browser-specific lag or something. In the meantime, I'll add it as a common courtesy rule.
