• Should death penalty be abolished

Hi fp, Since I am doing a 5 page essay on this same topic and I would like for you to share your opinion of why death sentence should/should not be allowed. Since this begin such a controversial law I am expecting a big debate. I personally think is wrong for various reasons such as the cost on the taxpayers money, take in consideration that many of the taxpayers paying for executions do not support this type of punishment

I actually want it back in GB. somebody steals £5000 from a store - 15 years Somebody kills 3 people in under a week, gets probation in 7 years and freed later on.
to be honest the retribution of keeping someone in prison is larger than shooting them in the head or injecting him with some stuff
No way, There's people who rape and then kill 6 year old children. They deserve to die.
A Life For A life.
If a murderer kills someone then they should die, I understand what you're saying. But what about the person who kills the killer? Then, by your logic, the executioner should be killed also?
hi its already abolished. oh wait you didnt mention what country. doh you dumbass
I personally think is wrong for various reasons such as the cost on the taxpayers money, take in consideration that many of the taxpayers paying for executions do not support this type of punishment
And it costs even more to keep them in prison.
No way, There's people who rape and then kill 6 year old children. They deserve to die.
infallible reasoning
I don't think it should continue as it is. It currently costs a lot of money to go through the whole death penalty process. It is cheaper to just lock them up forever. I do think they should redo the system so it stops costing so much. The process of them constantly appealing the case and dragging things on is a waste of time and money.
No it shouldn't.
the problem with life for a life is that one day you might find yourself over a dead body, whether you killed him or not, your opinion would change
both outcomes are pretty much undesirable. permanent incarceration is expensive for an inmate who still has a lot of years to go until he dies. taxpayers complain that they're paying for these inmates to live comfortable lives in prison, that they're getting a free ride, etc. executions have been argued to be the easy way out for them and they don't actually feel any guilt for the crimes they've committed. there have also been cases of botched executions, painful deaths, and it costs a huge amount of money in some states. i remember reading that florida spent nearly $3,000,000 USD for each execution in 2009.
if the person's guilt is an undeniable fact, then we should have the death penalty. i'd rather have them be put to death and spend my money for just that than pay to keep them alive and crowd our prisons.

Like the UK's recent election. The results were so close that a very large minority didn't get to see their party in charge of the country. Your point would be better if you could prove that most taxpayers don't want their taxes going towards the death penalty.

Paedofiles should be treated and given a 40 year sentance in a labour camp also put on suicide watch Murderers should be made to suffer a 25 year sentance in isolation and confinment Fraudsters and thugs should be made to do hard labour in the community until deemed fit to re-enter the public population. Death should only be appiled to war criminals. However it should be done humainily /sarcasm.
As all of you know there have been cases where the wrong person is killed. A small part of the innocent people killed tend to kill in self defense.

That shouldn't be a reason to abolish an entity though.
confessing to the crime
Dirty cops, Mental health and situation. All have an effect on this. For example , someone who has spent most of their life homeless and living in the streets begging, who is illiterate is more than likely to confess to a murder charge, if it gets him an education and a roof over his head for 25 years.
You should dig out more of those info from the internet/print sources. This is a touchy subject. This topic is something my senior did, and instead of getting a straight Yes/No question (he was pushing for abolishing it), his research direction changed midway, and that his conclusion was that whether or not a criminal should receive the death penalty should be at the judge's discretion.
also, I don't think there is enough concrete evidence of it decreasing the rates of murders
I think we should abolish the death penalty. Some people like myself aren't exactly comfortable with the state condemning people to death like that. A better solution would be to increase the certainty that people will be punished. You have to remember that the death penalty is meant mostly for discouraging crime rather than punishment for the crime itself. But too many people get away with their crimes and that needs to be fixed. Also make prison suck. There's one warden in Arizona who keeps his inmates out in the desert in tents with only necessities. He also uses chain gangs to pick up trash and do other tasks.

Some people deserve to die. Repeat offenders for sexual based crimes, and pedophiles especially. It is sick and wrong to do a sexual crime to someone, but it is 1000 times sicker if it is a kid.
I'm liberal in many extents, but when it comes to the death penalty, I believe it should be instituted whenever applicable (for most cases where someone killed someone else out of willful intent). It's a very case-by-case basis for me, so I can't say universally if it should be used/abolished.
