Why do social networks make the News? - General

K so yeah. Yesterday, I was listening to the radio and they a quick 3 minutes to keep us up to date with the news? So what made it to the news? A bank robbery! But not JUST a boring old bank roboery, someone Twittered in the middle! Isn't that mind blowing? So the guy walked in and gave the note to a teller and she handed him a bank of money. Cops allerted, gun confirmed, lives are at stake. The stupidest part of this is the fact that it wasn't the bank robbery that made the news, you know the hostage situation, gun and whatnot, but the fact that someone FUCKING TWITTERED. WHAT THE FUCK. Alright so I was watching CNN like last week. And OMG! No way! A doctor was asking twitter how to do A FUCKING MEDICAL PROCEDURE. Yes, the doctor was in the middle of surgery when he twittered, and now it's on CNN instead of... I donno... shootings, deaths, wars, and/or Obama being awesome. 1 other thing I've noticed, Danger = Twitter. Couple of weeks ago, that faggot Perez Hilton got knocked in the face by 1 of the black eyed peas or their manager... or fucking batman... so he twittered. Yep, he went to the twitter police! Yayz! Twitter faggots called the police and the police said: We have bigger problems. That's when I Lol. Imagine Virginia Tech with twitter: CNN: BREAKING NEWS: A massive school shooting took place at virginia tech. 30 casualties are confirmed so far, many injured. Damn shame. BUT on the bright side we have someone who actually twittered in the middle of the shooting. We're now live with that person. So how did it feel to be twittering during this tragedy. Person: Well, I heard gunshots and someone said there was a shooter in the school. That's when I said, oh my god... where's my cell phone. So I opened twitter and actually started twittering! It was fucking awesome! I was like: LOL guys theres a person shooting students here... anyway so you guys wanna go shopping tonight? CNN: Wow that is indeed something trully fucking epic. I hope your plans aren't affected by this "Twitter" incedent. :P Person: I hope not CNN guy. :P ty for having me on about nothing. /rant

So a robbery with no one dying would be on the news cuz someone twittered during it instead of a robbery with an epic huge kill count that ended with the bad guys getting away with all their cash and blew up the bank and half of the block? I hate Twitter, it came out of nowhere and suddenly everyone pretends it's the greatest thing ever. Personally nobody that I know uses it but all these websites and tv shows are like "follow us on Twitter, kay?"

There's a problem when a doctor not only is unsure what to do in the middle of surgery, but asks random people on the internet. Sounds like normal stuff that would make the news.

I created a Twitter account to see whats all the fuss is about. And do you know what I've found? GARBAGE! It's feels just like sending an SMS and all the comments i've read and the People I've tried to followed were updating random crappy stories about even the most trivial stuff! There really is nothing interesting. If I want to hear a story, I'll read a blog update, not some 3 sec shit.

99% of Twitters are useless uninteresting shits that are just calls for attention. "LOOK AT ME AND WHAT I'M DOING! IT'S IMPORTANT AND IT MATTERS AND YOU SHOULD CARE!" Nope. The only Twitters that have any remote significance are the ones from the revolt in Iran. Other than that, I have never heard of a useful Twitter.

I hate how Twitter has been adopted by the media, making it go away much slower. We need something to replace it before it becomes too mainstream, like youtube.
