The Trump administration has publicly blamed North Korea for unleashing the so-called WannaCry cyber attack that crippled hospitals, banks and other companies across the globe earlier this year.
“The attack was widespread and cost billions, and North Korea is directly responsible,” Tom Bossert, homeland security adviser to President Donald Trump, wrote in a piece published on Monday night in the Wall Street Journal.
“North Korea has acted especially badly, largely unchecked, for more than a decade, and its malicious behavior is growing more egregious,” Bossert wrote. “WannaCry was indiscriminately reckless.”
The White House was expected to follow up on Tuesday with a more formal statement blaming Pyongyang, according to a senior administration official.
Incoming distraction from the rumors of the Mueller firing, perchance?
"We will hold bad actors accountable*"
*except Russia
what i thought it was accepted to be some unaffiliated guy or group out of russia
Deflecting 101
God NK wishes they were so powerful
Hey Mueller, get that dead man's switch primed...

It's not a hard virus to propagate and it'd be a way to raise funds, seems pretty feasible.
The NK government can't even use Photoshop, how the fuck are they going to make a virus
The UK government has also announced that their National Cyber Security Centre has assessed North Korea was responsible

We've known since June that the NSA believes North Korea to have been responsible

They did pull off the Sony Pictures hack
are there any more sanctions we can stack on top of NK or can it be argued this is hostile activity deserving of retaliation?

If cyber attacks were something we were willing to retaliate over we'd be at war with Russia and China by now

Considering that russian banks suffered from this too, it as ruled out at a possibility
It makes sense, really. North Korea struggles to industrialize and power their country so they have to make software that cripples the rest of the worlds industry and power to bring us down to their level.
I just hope the speculation that they will use this as eventual cause to attack North Korea isn't true. I'm definitely not saying they don't need to be held accountable if true, but I'd hate for potential nuclear war to start over Trump using Wannacry as a distraction from Mueller.

NK has a whole organized crime syndicate called room 39 to generate revenue for the Kim dynasty and to keep them in power. This is right up their alley tbh
Trump is going to go to war with North Korea to get heat off of his admin's ties to Russia

So, in other words, he would go to war with North Korea to "hold bad actors accountable" in over to avoid "hold[ing] bad actors accountable" in Russia? Wouldn't that be a laugh? :v:
