I'm going to be getting my first bass guitar (I already can play guitar very well) and I have narrowed down my choices between the T-bird or the Jazz Bass. Which one would you guys recommend for someone who plays Mastodon, A Perfect Circle, and Primus covers?
I would choose Jazz bass since those can pretty much do any sound and also looks very stylish.
Jazz basses just never get old for me, both the look and the sound.
yeh jazz bass
I'd go for the jazz bass as well
Another vote for the jazz bass.
Versatile, can't go wrong.
Jizz bass
A soundgear Ibenez bass (SR) it's the best bass I've ever played for a cheap price range and I own a SR305 which I'll recommend.

Jazz Bass. I don't have anything against the Thunderbird, but I imagine that a Jazz Bass would be more versatile. I don't know much about basses, though.
If you really like the Thunderbird, though, don't let the versatility of the Jazz Bass turn you away from it.
Jazz bass all the way!
Jazz Bass can cover more music, as well as actually being a good design. Thunderbirds are an awful design with terrible balance issues. Hell the design is neck heavy on the guitar version
Jazz bass.
Jazz bass is better in every single way
Jazz bass it is then! I was considering the T-bird cause it had a mahogany body and a badass 2 bridge in it (also it comes in silverburst finish which I'm a sucker for :3:).
While we're on this topic, does anyone own the Fender Vintage Modified Jaguar Bass?

I was looking at it, as it's right at the end of my price range.
J-bass. Very versatile and easily modified should you wish to do that.

get this
way better then either of those. the versatility blows even the j bass out of the water and the SR series are some of the most comfortable basses i've ever played
not to mention they sound fucking awesome, even the sr300s
Jazz bass
P-bass
Double Bass
It's pretty easy. If you're in a metal band and you want looks over sound, go a Thunderbird :smug:
Seriously though, Go a Jazz/P Bass.

or this
Anyone wanna recommend a $150 amp?
I was tossing up between a Jazz bass and a Thunderbird last year.
I bought the Jazz bass, no regrets. :D
I have no idea about the amp though because I bought the guitar and my parents bought my amp

Go for this if you value looks and how easy it is to play over sound.

I think the SR300 blows any squier/mexico made jazz bass out of the water
in terms of everything including sound
