Actually, fuck it, I bet I can become a famous singer/rapper before I hit 25. How? Just by being subpar and knowing the right people.
I'm not making a statement, I'm making an example. All I need is money for the following equipment: A camera, some groupies, expensive sound synthesizers, and a "I don't give a fuck, I'm more better than u" attitude.
That's it, no talent, no years of learning an instrument, just some coat tales to ride upon until people recognize me as that guy that hangs around with that famous dude, right until I "blow up", become famous and then proceed to have my own leeches trying to feed off of my fame for nourishment.
I'm thinking, if all these assholes are going around making millions by spouting the same unimaginative shite every month or so and then reaping the rewards of having stupid fans then maybe I can step over some people as well right? Right.
So lets do this shit.

The key is networking. The more/better people you know, the easier it is to get your name out there.

Seeing as lots of music nowadays is autotune shit that is enhanced you probably could.
I've got some acquaintances who have pretty much proven this already. They haven't made it quite YET, but they're just right under the bar of being superstars.
One is making a cartoon for Fox and the other is directing a bunch of amazing shit. He's even made a full, feature-length film called The Rig. Both guys were room-mates in college and have really shown themselves.
If you really want to be successful you simply just go to college. College alone literally builds a path to your own success; it just depends on how much you really want to succeed and how focused you are in your path. I show up to do some charitible-type nonprofit freebie shit at school and meet SO MANY people (I have had the chance to meet Brad Bird, director of some Pixar films) and have met some amazing folks you wouldn't know, but everyone in the local area knows.
You don't have to be a superstar to be a well-rounded, respected person. It's just nice to have absolute fame like Brad Pitt, though.
Or you could be 14, put a video on youtube, have some higher-ups somehow find it, and make you a star.
Then you'll annoy the shits out of boys, and the girls will love you.
