In other words, the country is falling into a recession. The net amount of foreign capital expected to flow out of the country in 2014 has been revised sharply upwards to $125 billion (up from $100 billion), while the projection of net outflows for next year has also been increased from $50 billion to $90 billion. Independent Russian news agency Interfax reports Deputy Economic Development Minister Alexei Vedev as saying that the downgrade reflects the decrease in the forecast average price of Urals crude next year from $100 a barrel to $80 a barrel. Russia relies on the oil and gas sector for 10% of its GDP and around 50% of its government budget. However, since June global oil prices have been in free fall with Brent falling from a June high of around $115 a barrel to just over $72 a barrel on Tuesday. The majority of forecasters now suggest that it will remain under $100 a barrel through 2016. These concerns have helped drive capital out of the country and force down the value of the Russian rouble against other major currencies. Indeed the rouble has closely tracked the collapsing oil price over the past six months.
poor putin http://www.businessinsider.com/russia-is-falling-into-a-recession-2014-12
poor putin
Putin is absolutely fine. It's us who's getting fucked.
how is that funny
pretty sure people are rating the OP's joke
It's funny because all russians are guilty of invading ukraine
Not all russians had approval of what they did. Better yet I'm sure there was a majority going against it. If they had not of spent so much money on their military regimes this probably could of been avoided. But I'm no politician I don't know how their books are.
He was sarcastic
You can't read sarcasm on the internet so if this is new please teach me how to discover sarcasm on forums.
Common sense. All russians are obviously not guilty of the invasion and the "It's funny" combined with the rest of it simply hints more at sarcasm since sanctions affect all russians and yet only the government is actually guilty.
It's funny cause we're fucked in here, don't you know the concept of skoodenfroode?
You can't read sarcasm on the internet so if this is new please teach me how to discover sarcasm on forums.
The phrase "it's funny because x" is (not always) but usually used as sarcastic at least on these forums.
See this is a textbook example of CIA destabilization of a regime. First the economy collapses, then the people get mad, then the people get given guns, then the people take over.
Sanctions won't hurt putin. They haven't hurt castro and they don't hurt the ayatollah. They only hurt individual citizens.
See this is a textbook example of CIA destabilization of a regime. First the economy collapses, then the people get mad, then the people get given guns, then the people take over.
Replace guns with "vodka", and "take over" with "are closed down behind the firewall".
Sanctions alone didn't cause recession. Very low oil prices combined with poor growth did.
Sanctions alone didn't cause recession. Very low oil prices combined with poor growth did.
Wasn't there a report that said that the sanctions cost them only small fraction of what the extremely low oil price does?
Sanctions alone didn't cause recession. Very low oil prices combined with poor growth did.
But I thought the CIA was behind this
What Russia needs is to use this situation to diversify their economy and build working institutions.
You guys do realize we still owe $18 trillion in debt.
You guys do realize we still owe $18 trillion in debt.
A national debt is not a personal finance debt. http://blogs.reuters.com/great-debate/2013/01/14/why-public-debt-is-not-like-credit-card-debt/
And what? It seems as people see this as somekind of achievment form sanctions or tool to get rid of Putin, well, sorry kids, recession is not an end of the world and it's not like we were not through this before, neither does it affect goverment or nation's opinion on it. This is no sign of "collapse" that makes certain users here wet, it's a mere indication that it's about time goverment get concerned about dependancy on oil.
Sanctions alone didn't cause recession. Very low oil prices combined with poor growth did.
And the drop in oil prices is being caused, in large part, by an expansion of oil production in the US, which decreases the need for Russian oil. If you think this sudden, conveniently timed expansion of US oil production isnt intended specifically to knock down the oil price to hurt Russia, you're naive
how is that funny
because commies suck
You guys do realize we still owe $18 trillion in debt.
So?
Those who in power start shit, regular folks drown in it. I love how every second-third post in RU sector of net is "PUTIN IS BEST FUCK WEST" or something. Anyway, I wanted to get out of here when all Crimea shit started but guess what, Canada denied me visa with no given reason. :)

You guys wanna trade? We'll send you Lula and Dilma, you guys send us Putin.
Russia and bad combination
Welp, that's what you get for being a dick to every neighbour you have.

It's OPEC members selling oil at discounts because US production, which has been steadily increasing over time is finally threatening OPEC. They want to silence competition from US shale producers. In fact, US oil exports to Asia has stopped because of cheaper M.E. oil. It harms U.S. oil producers.
You guys do realize we still owe $18 trillion in debt.
we're coming back babyyyy
I seriously doubt that russians will try to overthrow Putin in any way. "Slave mentality" and all that follows. And besides, even if he did get forced to resign next one will be the same because russians cannot into anything else than autocratic semi-police state. They need a dictator to exist as a nation or something. I honestly have no idea why it is so but history makes it clear that it is the truth. P.S. Don't get me wrong, there are decent people in Russia but it seems there are too few of them nowadays. P.P.S. Hey, USA makes exact same shit like what's happening in Ukraine all over the world but somehow gets away with it. (Well tbh I'd rather live in US than RU)
