A family were forced to flee their home and have it fumigated after finding hundreds of potentially deadly spiders - in a bunch of bananas. they're as cute as they are poisonous
Isn't this somewhat common actually? Since most bananas are exported from countries with spiders that often hang around this fruit, sometimes nestling in with bunches and end up being shipped all over?

Don't worry, banana spiders are harmless. :v:
Looks like a bunch of jumping spiders to me when they're that small, but I'm probably wrong. Either way, an unpleasant surprise.
Huh. I'm certain that I've heard this story before but the article is dated today. Hopefully this is not a common occurrence.

those spiders don't even look that scary. i was expecting a swarm of Brazilian wandering spiders or something from the title
A beautiful bunch of ripe bananas, day light come and me wanna go home, hide the deadly, black tarantula, day light come and me wanna go home
Messed up as it is, THAT was the first thing I though when I saw the headline.
Coincidentley I watched the Mythbusters Episode where they tested slipping on Bananas just last night. That being said, this is creepy as hell.
If bananas were made for human hands how come the contain spiders? Checkmate Christians
Huh. I'm certain that I've heard this story before but the article is dated today. Hopefully this is not a common occurrence.
We had another story of something very similar a while back. There weren't as many spiders as there are with these bananas though

I'm more freaked out by the awkward family photos than the monkey spiders.
